Lips of an Angel Lyrics

Honey why you calling me so late?
It's kinda hard to talk right now.
Honey why are you crying? Is everything okay?
I gotta whisper 'cause I can't be too loud

Well, my girl's in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never...

I think this song is about a guy and a girl who use to date. And for whatever reason they broke up and tried to go their own separate ways. Thinking it was the right thing to do at the time, they are now both having second thoughts. Despite the fact that they are both now involved in new semi-serious relationships. They still share the same feelings and want each other back so0o badly (she even calls him late at night crying because she regrets ever letting him go), but don’t want to end their relationships that they are currently committed to. They both have dreams of each other, and the sound of the others voice just so “sweet” to hear. He never wants to completely let her leave from his life, but she makes it so hard to stay faithful to the girl he is with now.

This song is about a struggle of being morally right (going with what your heart is telling you) and doing what is right and acceptable to the rest of the world (doing what your brain says to do).

    That’s my interpretation. Mar870v

I believe that it is a song about a girlfriend that has died. She is calling him from another dimension. She has the lips of an angel. He has a new girl, that he can’t fully commit to as he is still in love with his dead girlfriend.

Two people were madly in love with each other but had to let each other go. It was actually the girl's decision to brake up (because of undisclosed reason). And because the guy was so loving and understandable, he let her, although it was painful. A few years later, she started calling him because she just misses him so much. She knows she shouldn't be calling him anymore... she tried for years not to... but she can't control it anymore.. she wants to hear his voice... his laugh. Him on the other hand, had been waiting for her to come back, until he found another girl. But she still longs for her, and now that she's on the other line, he's getting confused. He asks, "Honey, why are you calling so late?"

-- Because I wanted you to know that all these years, I've been thinking of you. I've always wonder how our lives would have been together. Let me just hear your voice... let me love you silently... no one has to know but us two.

Although I think he’s a sleazebag for not telling the ex right off not to call, I believe when he says “I never want to say goodbye”, he’s talking about his current love, but the ex is quite temptation and he has a hard time fighting the urge to cheat with her. The song never mentions a prospect of going back to the ex; just cheating with her.

Why does everyone act like this is some sweet love song? The guy is cheating on his girlfriend with his ex. "My girl's in the next room, sometimes I wish she was you" Does he know you're talking to me, will it start a fight?" "No, I don't think she has a clue." Emotional affair with his ex

My interpretation of this song is, they were a couple madly in love. However, they broke up for some reason. Maybe ego or social pressure or because their love was turning into something dangerous, like an addiction or obsession! But whatever the reason, they never had closure..

They went on with their lives, trying to forget each other and eventually even dated other people. But they could never really move on.

Eventually, one night, she dreams of him and misses him so badly that she calls him up crying.

Hearing her voice, triggers his inner passion and love and weakness for her for her that he was probably trying to suppress. And it is so strong and overpowering that it's as good as he being unfaithful to his current girlfriend.

He eventually confesses that he dreamt about her and there were times he wishes his girlfriend was her.

At the end it shows just how much he's still in love with her and doesn't want to hang up and let go of this moment ("And I never wanna say goodbye")

But it's evident that he's taking precaution not to risk his current stable relationship either! ("It's kinda hard to talk right now."),("I gotta whisper 'cause I can't be too loud")

They probably do not want to get back to each other for whatever reason they initially broke up for, but they don't want to let go of each other either. Clearly he's in a turmoil, whether to follow his head or his heart!

The guy is obviously having an affair and for whatever cowardly reason he won't leave his current girlfriend to actually fully be with the one he really loves. He is what's known as a cake eater. Is getting something out of both women and will probably never grow up and be with just one woman. He gets off on that shi*. Yes I have been around some as*holes that do it all the time. In fact its rare to find a guy that is truly faithful 100% all the time.

My interpretation of this song is two people who were in a relationship broke up and are now in different relationships. They can't fully get over one another though so they still talk. The first line "honey why you calling me so late?" shows how late at night it is whereas the ending line "honey why you calling me so late?" means why is she calling him now and saying all this sweet stuff to him when she could and should have done it long ago. The girl on the telephone must have gotten into a fight with her boyfriend and, crying, called the guy in the video to comfort her. They want so badly to get back together but they don't want to leave the people they are with now, they just don't want to cut off connection with each other completely though so they still talk. The line saying "but girl you make it hard to be faithful, with the lips of an angel." could mean he can't stay faithful to the girl he is with now because the girl on the telephone is either a good kisser or always says the right and sweet thing to him. I may be completely off but that is my interpretation :) btw, I loooove this song <3

I think his previous girlfriend is dead and her calling him is figurative. He moarns her death. When he says 'let her die, never want to say goodbye' he is referring to this. The footage of the band playing shows them surrounded by candles.

This song is about a guy who used to date a girl and still hasn't quite moved on. He still continues to talk to the girl and see her, even though they both have someone else. He still wants to be with her and they secretly talk at night. "you make it hard to be faithful with the lips of an angel" meaning it's hard to resist talking to the other girl.

Well this song is obviously one end of a telephone conversation (thats why in parts of it it seems like he is talking to himself)between two people who had a past fling but r now both in serious relationships you can infer that niether is really happy with thier current partners and that's why they confide in each other but for some reason that is never explained they can no longer be together(maybe they went thier seperate ways after high school or college and now theyre leading lives that are polar opposites) you can also infer that the girl is crying because of a fight she and her new boyfriend/husband had the fact that he book ends the conversation begening and ending with the phrase "honey why ou calling me so late" makes me think that she likes him more than he likes her and that she didn't really havee a reason to call him but the sound of her beautiful voice put a "fog" over his brain until he finally realizes the whole conversation has basically been about nothing at all and once again ask what was so important that she had to call in the middle of the night for some reason this song reminds me a litte of goodbye earl by thee dixie chicks and how in that song mariane goese on to acomplish great things but wanda has a shot gun wedding and ends up with a malicious wife beater and at the beginig of the song theyre best friends well I think the girl on the phone and the guy had to go thier seperate ways in life but instead of staying best friends like mariane and wanda or in thier case continuing to be boyfriend and girlfriend they just tried to forget about one and other until the girl really needs the guy but unlike mariane he doesn't want to come help her he is content with his life and doesn't want to risk it all for some girl he met in a bar his freshmen year of college sorry I know that was really long and confusing but ya

This song can be difficult to completely understand and with so many different views on it it can be hard to know what to think, but i belive that this song is about a couple who have broken up, but still think of each other and weather they should have stayed toghether. The first line, "Honey why are you calling me so late" has two meanings. Firstly it shows the call is late at night, and secondly it can be taken as, if the girl wanted to say something or do something with the guy, she should of done it when they were going out cause now its to late. He says that sometimes he wishes he was still going out with her. The line "Girl you make it hard to be faithful, with the lips of an Angel", could be thought of as she has a good mouth, or that she says the things you want to here, and is angelic but her actions betray her words. He worries that a fight will break out between him and her boyfriend. He wants to have her back but is not willing to risk it (be faithful) because she could just break up with him like she did before

I heard an interview with the band on the radio and they were asked specifically what this song was about. The lead singer said it was not originally meant to be about a relationship that ended, but both members still had feelings for each other. It is, in fact, about the band's first record deal. Their producer was in a different time zone than the band, and when he got word of the deal, he immediately called the band, completely disregarding the time difference. It was really late (early?) where the band was, which is where the "honey why you calling me so late" came from. It was kind of hard to talk because he was so inundated with happiness that he wanted to scream and yell; he couldn't control his emotions. The girl in the next room is another band member, and he wishes that the band member was the producer, so they be together and sign the contract and begin their career in fame and fortune.

I'm writing this based on an interview I heard, but I can see how you could interpret this as a broken up couple who still love each other, not the person they are currently seeing.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
