Talk Shows on Mute Lyrics

Take a bow, pack on powder,
Wash 'em out with buzzing lights,
Pay an audience to care,
'Impress me' personality.

Still and transfixed,
The electric sheep are dreaming of your face.
Enjoy you from the chemical,
Comfort of America.

Come one, come...

'Come one come all into nineteen-eighty-four' is a refference to the George Olwell novel 1984. I haven't read it but I know it's set in a dystopian future (the book was written in the 1930's I think) and portays a totalitarianism world run by 'Big Brother.' Yet whenver someone says Big Brother these days people will think they are reffering to the reality tv show.

The lyrics are pretty much describing how mindless talk shows are and how you can't really see this until you watch them on mute.

'Take a bow, pack on powder'
Put on a s***load of makeup

'Wash them out with buzzing lights'
A refference to how moths are attracted to buzzing lights. Also saying that the talk show people use too much lighting

'Pay an audience to care, impress me personality'
Saying that the audiende doesn't really care but if it looks like they care then other people will think it's somewhat important and decide to watch it

    'Still and transfixed'
Everyones so focused on these people talking about the most pointless topic

'The electric sheep are dreaming up your face'
Sheep is a metaphor for conformity and always following what others around you are doing in fear of humiliation, rejection and danger. Electric is probably just a refference to modern technology keeping everyone from living their lives by distracting them with technology

'Make all forget that they're the moth'
Another reference to moths. They're saying that people watching these shows are like moths; attracted to the buzzing light that is their television set and their so focused on the show they forget how attracted they are to a freaking box

'The electric sheep are dreaming up your fate'
Saying how these shows are dreaming up the fate which is watching these shows everyday and following it's advice on how to live your life.

'I hate to say you're so much more endearing with the sound turned off'
You realise how fake these people are after watching the show on mute.

Anyway, that's my interpretation of the lyrics. If I left out any lines it's cuz I didn't quite understand them or couldn't be bothered figuring out what they meant.
    Peace :D
