Afterglow Lyrics

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this...

He is reflecting on a time/person/occasion/moment - it sustains itself, he envisions it repeatedly. Wishing and hoping that it returns.

This song is crazy. Everyone should act like Jesus and everyone should act like the one crazy that pain and suffering never is. We ALL desperately obsess about disappearing and not knowing.
Most bands who sell millions and millions of records and are musically stuck in the sixties ruin every opportunity, but when a big record company comes along providing keys to a posh life, house, studio and the chance to just do it, you know it doesn't matter. You relish in it. You love it. You know it's the best. It gets better and better. You take control. You become the boss and that is what makes value of creation.
It seems that the theme of this song has long been lost to the brittle massses, still flailing in goop self created in the gutter of it's own image, still undetermined and nervous to make it's way into life's band.
Laughing in their own cores, it was hilarious, such as you might expect from a group of lyrical master hoards. No matter, though, all was transparent. It's not that anybody spent much time working on the idea of expecting more. Magic never really, happens that way, and most people seem to subconsciously realize this.
Ultimately, this song is about the definite lack of manners in the subhuman gene that tends to overpopulate other species of subterranean fruit.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

"Afterglow" is sung by INXS's new vocalist and winner of Rock Star:INXS, J.D. Fortune, after the former one, Michael Hutchence, committed suicide in 97.
"Touch me and I will follow
    In your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
    As I let you go
    I will find my way
    I will sacrifice
'Till the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow..."
The title of the song refers to the color of the sky after the sun sets, when it's still rosy or orange.
It's about how the new vocalist is picking up from where the old one left, and is honored to do so. The sun has faded from the sky, leaving only an afterglow: Michael's legacy, his great reputation and the friendship and love people had for him, and the new guy will live humbly in that place in INXS, while the rest of the band will have their memories and the empty space left by the absence of the sun for the rest of their lives.
The song was written as a tribute to Michael, speaking about how they are sad to have to let him go and how they will find their way until the day they meet again, never forgetting their friend as they live in his afterglow.
