#1 top rated interpretation:This song is based on an actual event and the alfred lord tennyson poem called the charge of the light brigade. During the crimean war (1853-1856) about 670 british cavalrymen charged russian artillery positions through what became known as the valley of death (balaclava, crimea). The troopers (cavalry soldiers) were torn apart by the russians. 118 troopers were killed and 127 wounded. The song is iron maiden at their best. Thus endeth your history lesson!
