The song starts with "Kathy Beth Terry" (Katy Perry's ego)waking up - looking around and seeing what's left of a, obviously, crazy party. She knows that she'll be in trouble after finding "pictures of last night ended up online" but at the same time she doesn't care where it was such a fun night. The song continues with events that supposedly happened. The meaning itself is simple and fun, just like the beat of the song!

Some people reading WAAAAAAY too much into this. It's a Katy Perry song. It's not a Chidi Anagonye song. The song doesn't even make sense on a base level. "Last Friday night" is repeated over and over and over, and yet there's several points making it clear the song is about "last night". Nobody says "last Friday night" on the same Saturday. And it's not Saturday. It's Friday. So the party she's cleaning up from took place on Thursday. There is no depth to this song, only boppy nonsense.

I wrote that song to one of my cousins who got demoed with Nathan Chapman. My cousin Jacob helped me with my demo tape I’m the luckiest cousin who made this record for me. Accept my friends to sing with me, but the twins are so nice and incredibly nice. I absolutely love them. They went to club with me. When Emma signed me up on her paper, I would sing million dreams from greatest showman. It’s so beautiful but I wanted to be a singer like country artist, and be friends with them.

When I started writing thus song I’ve been writing about couple hours but I’m busy with songwriting and have time to write music every word to the other tune and we will have plenty of time to relax and take breaths in. I made this record to my friends and so, I thought I’m going to the record label and recording until they still have done. After school, I have recording session with max Martin, and also Nathan Chapman.

The lyrics within this song explore the concepts of Darwinism through melodious methodology. The lyric "Menage a trois" represents the exploration of self-love and sexuality through adolescence. The concept of the party and Friday is a self-made mental concept within the mind of Katy Perry, who is experiencing depersonalization/derealization, and psychosis. These lyrics seem shallow but are really a quite extraordinary as well as emotional when it comes to mind. I find this song to be quite a lyrical masterpiece throughout the 21st century.

this video seems to be a new awakening in the front of stereotype-destruction.Within the simple lyrics and the easy rhythm lies a cry- which is begging the audience to not conform to stereotypes, and to believe in oneself even when others don't believe in you. for instance ,the nerd becoming the life of the party and ending up in bed with the high school stud clearly echoes the artist's idea as mentioned above.
