The Battle of Evermore Lyrics

Queen of Light took her bow, And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom, And walked the night alone.

Oh, dance in the dark of night, Sing to the morning light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight, And time will tell...

I'm guessing that the "apples" reference has something to do with the spoiling of Ithilien, the once prosperous region polluted by Mordor. It could also refer to Minas Tirith, which as a great fortress would protect the seeds (men, families, etc.) of happiness. As for the "queen" reference, its likely that its Galadriel. She did "bow" out of power by allowing Frodo to keep the Ring, and if I remember correctly, her wooded city had a glow to it, thereby making her a "queen" of "light".

Well, I think the queen of light is the elf queen and she does take her bow and go to west at the end of the series. Also the prince of peace could be Aragorn, because he is a king, or it could be Legolas because he stays, unlike most of the elves. all just speculation.

I get most of the Lord of the Rings connection quite clearly, but there are some lines where I don't quite see the connection. First I don't know where the "Queen of Light" comes into play. Some will say it's the Wood Elf Queen, but I don't see the connection to light or taking a bow or leaving. I also don't know what the apple's of the valley are about.

The lyrics of this song were greatly influenced by Tolkiens Lord of the rings books as you can see in this song. Tolkien was an amazing influence on a vast number of people who ever wrote or were interested in writing. I actually heard a statistic from a friend that said that 70% of writers said in a questionnaire that they had been influenced by his work. 70%! Truly amazing. anyway, great song, don't have the album but I will get it one day.
