How to Love Lyrics

Cut the music up
A little louder
You had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn’t never figure out
How to love
How to love

You had a lot of moments that didn’t last forever
Now you in the corner tryna put it...

This song is about girl who has always questioned her self-worth because she had always been valued based on her outer beauty and her body. She has learned to measure her worth with her body and never experienced a man loving her for her inner beauty and who she is on the inside. Her whole outlook on life had been marred by this so she never trusted anyone and found herself accustomed to using her sex appeal to get the things she wanted out of life. She often feels insecure if men looked at her because how they viewed her appearance determined whether or not they would deal with her. She both loathed and capatilized on her looks.

I think Lil Wayne is talking about an attractive woman who was always valued for her beauty on the outside. "You had a lot of crooks, tryna steal your heart", meaning lots of men have taken advantage of her and used her, just because she is attractive. Or this song could be talking about a girl with low self esteem, and have had guys lead her on and play games with her. I especially like the part where he says "You deserve the best, you're beautiful." This is one of my favorite songs of his.

Okay , so at the beginning it shows women about to get an aboration (kill the baby inside her before it's born)
Then at the last mintue she decides not to and runs out.
After the baby is born , it watches it's mother (the one about to get an aboration) get physically abused by her father.
Later the baby grows up to a girl , and goes to vist her father in jail with her mother .
After she grows up to a preteen and her mother has a boyfriend , when the girls mother falls asleep , he sexually abuses the girl .
Seeing and being abused all her life , messed her up , resulting in her sitting on the stairs of a school , when a boy walks out they start to make out , because she does not how to express love otherwise (She dosen't know 'How To Love.')
Later the girl drops out of school to become a stripper to raise her two children.
Then she hooks up with someone wrong , for money. She goes to the doctor and tells her she has a STD , and she starts to cry and hug her mother.
Then , the video stops , goes back in time , back to the beginning of the girls life. This time instead , her mother picks up the girl and they move in with her sister or friend , instead . Now her mother marries a good man , and the girl does not have to witness her father in jail or get sexually abused. She grows up to study at school and graduates and becomes a hair dresser , now instead of going to the doctor to be told she has a STD he tells her she's pregent and her and her mom hug and she thanks her for teaching her how to love right.

after her husband Gone in prison for any reason she getting so much trouble (because of her attracting looks, insecurity etc) to raise her baby girl safe and securely that leads her baby girl to be an Prostitution after getting older... That's why she had an desies called HIV.... If, if, if her mom took decision to found one guy who love to marry her (with her daughter) and raise her daughter as normal as others do then it will be become a happy ending to her unfortunate/fortunate life..... The message is that (for women's) no matter whats going on in your life you have to have faith in yourself and live life like a queen not like helpless women.... You deserve the best you're beautiful.

    Thank you.

The girl was sexually abused as a child and made herself feel worthless. She looked for sex because she thought that the only way she would find love is through sex. She becomes a stripper and a prostitute to provide for her kids. She picks up a man and they go to a hotel room to have sex. She later goes to the doctor and he tells her she has HIV. Through time, her mother is there with her along the way. Later, the young girls ends up having the baby and gets married. She shows her kids how to love and respect.

Lmao at the comments, the meaning of this song is different to everyone. Its all about how an song makes YOU feel. As for me, my friends sent it to me bc I was diagnosed with hiv, an guy I was inlove with and with for years, gave me hiv. It caused an brain infection and pneumia & i stopped breathing that's how I found out, whenever I started getting sick wit "the flu" he left I guess bc he knew I was about to find out idk but what it means to me is not letting hiv define you, finally meeting someone different and shows you truly how to love , over coming the downs in life and being motivated by the man who truly shows you how to love. Not letting you past define you. Yall need to stop arguing about what the meaning of this song. Bc all that matters is what it means to u... And as far as all the ppl talking bout " whores selling their selves" or talking about how " hiv is nasty blah blah this and that" I pray you never lose everything you have, pray you never have to sell yourself to feed your kids, or self. Hope you never have an habit you have to support.. I've never did It myself but i don't knock no body's hustle.. and I hope you never catch hiv from the person your with years bc they didn't want to tell you actually I hope you never get it from nobody. Because weak minded and hearted ppl like you, i dont think y'all could handle it..

to me this song is about a girl who never truly figured out the meaning of love and had a true guy who loved her for her. it’s talking about how she is deeply insecure and searching for self-acceptance in all the wrong places like sex, stripping, lots of relationships, etc. he’s talking about how she is beautiful and worth everything.

My interpretation of this song reflects a lot on my own life. I have been with more men than I can count on my fingers and this I am not proud of. I was always looking for love and someone to see me as me but I ended up becoming easy due to my insecurities and lack of self worth. It turns out if I look at my childhood, I never had an example of true honest and compassionate love because of my parents' divorce. So now as I try to find it on my own, I'm looking in places I feel comfortable with, which is sex. In the end, I have now established that I am done messing around and looking in the wrong places. I am almost 25 and the love of my life doesn't trust me. But of course he doesn't, we were together for 5 years and I cheated on him more than once. So for now, I'm trying to find the right way of how to love and I've made an oath to not have sex until I get married because then I won't be able to make another mistake.

    You people are stupid

The song is about girls who whore themselves out, and don't know how to trust or feel. It's about women being misrepresented, based on looks, shamefully submitting to men and lust.

hes probably talking about a girl he cares about how she didn't get enough love from her family when she was younger so she doesn't know how to love someone not even herself and that's why she goes to a lot of guys and her life gets bad, instead of being a good girl that studies at school falls in love and marry someone her life just went in a very bad way

Well i think that other interpretation could be like if lil wayne were talking about a prostitute,a girl that works in streets. And the way she went to that way: because she never really knew what the love was. The people that was tryin "to steel her hart"never could because the probably used to see the physical appareance only. So the one who is singin is someone who saw everything, who knew that girl since she was little but she probably reject him. But he still loving her even she is waht she is. Now he is singin to her

I think it's about a girl who grew up being dealt with the wrong hands her whole life, she grew up without a father, her mom had to leave abusive relationships, she was in and out of bad relationships, one of them in prison another one of her mom's boyfriends raping her, so she grows up behaving promisculosly with low self esteem and just keeps getting fucked over by men in her life to the point where she can't really love anymore and her promiscuous behavior (stripping, prostituting and the sorts) leads her into trouble by getting HIV/AIDS so she finay gets help and puts her life back together, found the right guy had kids and became a hair dresser. If you watch the video beginning to end on YouTube it shows how she is at first and her transformation.

this song is about somebody just like me! Its about trust issues - probably based on her past - she very pretty and meets lots of guys, she can't let them in because she doesn't know how to! so he's telling her he admires her as much as she admires the things she loves in life!

Hmm.. I think the song is about the teenagers who are 'promiscuous' and how the girl ended up in the video. She ended up with HIV so the message is stop letting crooks steal ur heart and use you. And her childhood was awful.. So her mother should teach her how to love. Great message!

he knows wasup he has the same thoughts as i do, we need to raise OUR daughters differently then how we were raised MOST of the grls i know have kids & stay in abusive relationships & never finish their education & all 4 wat a FUCKIN GUY??? COME ON ladies WE CAN DO IT ALONE!! Im not a stripper but damn this relates to mee, but THANK GOD im looking forward.. We all need a bright future ahead of us lets do it 4 ourselfs & our babies♥ Its Not our fault tho most minority girls have kids at a young age because our moms stayed in abusive relationships, & that affected on how we love, we looked 4 love at a young age kuz some never got it at home, we need to teach our children "How To Love" straite up with it.. Then its NOT our mother's fault they stayed in abusive relationships in their culture they were taught to not leave the father of the children the "provider" & if the woman remarried she was SLUT and people thought bad of her & she was told she would never be wanted by another man & soo she stayed & took da abuse..:/ & i think thats how our generation of teen moms became to be.. But we know now that FUCK wat people think, & we can do it alone we dont need a "MAN" we need to be INDEPENDENT.. Watch the last part how the grandma, the mom, & the daughter are together when she is graduating.. # INDEPENDENT, SMART, FREE women did it alone toghether with NO man & thats how we need to show our babies HOW TO LOVE!!!!!
