30 Seconds To Mars - From Yesterday Song Meanings

Lyrics:
He’s a stranger to some
And a vision to none
He can never get enough,
Get enough of the one

For a fortune he'd quit
But it’s ...

I pretty much agree-sort of...'From Yesterday' to me is about all the problems in the world that have been ignored, about all the terrible things committed by people (especially people in power) in the past (the word used to describe the past in this song would be 'Yesterday') and in our present times which have or are being forgotten and overlooked, and that one day this will come back and(for lack of better phrase) bite us in the -beep-....A sort of warning about what the world could become (check the video clip out-a stifled, cold world lead by a child, something that is meant to be innocent and good-but has become a hardened selfish monster"..."From yesterday its comming"

I would agree with the previous posts regarding a man whose face shows and tells a story, presumably a conflicted, weathered and stressed man. A man who can't escape his past, and a man who might be afraid of what is to come. In analyzing this song and comparing it to Leto's other songs, I would probably disregard the political predictions but I may just be wishing that for myself. Excellent song!

He's a stranger to some
And a vision to none

- He is God.

He can never get enough,
Get enough of the one

- God is disappointed in how selfish many have become..

For a fortune he'd quit
But it's hard to admit
How it ends and begins

- ..and the many who do not believe God created the world

On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)

- Read the Bible, God created the world.

From yesterday, it's coming!
From yesterday, the fear!
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't want to read the message here

- Read the message in the Bible.

On a mountain he sits, not of gold but of sins
through the blood he can look, see the lives that he took
From a council of one
He'll decide when he's done, with the innocent!

- God will only take the innocent of sin to heaven at Armageddon.

I think this song is about one man fearing his past and finds it hard to come to terms with it, I think that "on his face is a map of the world" means that people can see his past and his pain. "from yesterday it calls him, but he doesn't want to read the message here" This means that he doesn't want everyone to know about his past or that he doesn't want to relive the past because it comes to his memory but he wants to ignore it. These are the pains that he lives with "from yesterday" means that this is his past that he wants to change but cant.

I think it's about how he seems to be aware of the problems no one else is paying attention. He has the problems of the word written on his face as he looks around himself trying to make sense of everything. 'From yesterday it's coming' meaning that the problems aren't going to go away by ignoring it but the unsolved problems of yesterday is still out there regardless if we chose to accept their excistence or not and their going to catch up on everybody.

This song is beautiful in its ability to speak volumes. I believe it is a song of empathy, a poem of sadness the writer feels for a "particular entity". This entity so selfishly loved his Father and this love was his undoing. His fate is sealed, the Message is clear yet not fair... yesterday is coming and there is nothing this entity can do about it. Fear of truth is the only fear that is justified.

I just had to laugh about some dipshit always having to interpret everything as religious. THE SONG AIN'T ABOUT GOD dumbass. I'd also like to encourage people to try learning things for themselves and not suckling on the tit of some religious leader. Try being your own shepard instead of a brainless sheep. ok if there is a god, I'm sure it would want you to figure things out for yourself, not take some jerkoffs word because he's in a billion dollar church telling you how things are.

An interpretation after seeing the clip is that the song is about how over the many years the music industry doesn't change very much the fans and the shows still work the same way, that why wen they go to step out on stage they go bak in time(or yesterday)
