It was written before he got with gwyneth paltrow. If you'd rest the other posts, you'd know that. He's stated before that it was for his sick goddaughter, but honestly, the beauty of songs is that everyone can find themselves in them, in their own particular way.

From looking at other interpretations on the web, it seems like no one is really sure or has any facts on what this song is about. But I believe it is a love song. It could be any type of love, love between siblings, between parent and child, between friends, or between partners. I guess we’ll never know, but when I listen to yellow I can interpret it as a love song. The word ‘yellow’ doesn’t actually have a significant meaning. It is simply a word that was able to fit in with the song. The meaning of the word can be interpreted in any way that the listener chooses to.

Well, everybody has their own interpretations, but the song wouldnt be called 'yellow' if it was only to make the whole thing rhyme. Those who have ever heard of jaundice will know that your skin turns yellow. It actually refers to a liver illment, and it makes you sick. I think that he wrote a song for a person suffering from a liver disfunction. It may sound funny, but it makes sense. Thanks

This song can mean so many things to so many people. It can symbolize the love between a parent and child, brotherly love, or the romantic type of love. To me, it symbolizes the romantic type. It basically says that you would do anything for the one that you love. Every little, tiny thing that your lover does, however insignificant it may seem can actually mean a lot. Everything they do seems wonderful. The love it represents is that reach for the stars, talk all night, can never get enough of that person love. Stars are luminous, heavenly bodies that shine down on the world. When he says "look at the stars, look how they shine for you" it means even the stars to him shine down for that person. Yellow is commonly known as an optimistic, cheerful color. However, it is scientifically the most difficult color for the eye to take in. Think about it

Its about this person telling another person that "many people love you, I love you, everything you do is so beautiful, but you are not taking care of yourself, so many people love you for who you are and what you do, look at them they are so happy. " the line in the song that says "and you are skin, oh yeah you are skin and bones, turn it to something beautiful" says that 'you are not taking care of yourself, and many people think you are beautiful, and if you believe you are beautiful, and show you are beautiful, then all the world can know.' the line "look at the stars, look how they shine for you" says that this perosn is loved by so many people, and they are happy to have that person in their life, and they don't want that person to go away.

This is a song about yellow fever alright.....as in having a thing for asians, also known as yellow feva. Coldplay probably lived out their asian fetish and dedicated a song to this master race. I mean, who doesn't have an asian fetish? White guys are like soooo into asians women. Why? Because their skin is so damn soft, hence the line "your skiiiiiin" And then the line "oh yeah you're skin and bones" hello...asians are skinny. Have you ever seen a fat asian? They don't eat crap like us Americans do and have an average life span of like 104 or something. This is definitely a song dedicated to the asians and anyone else who has yellow feva. A-Z-N's RULE motherf***ers!!!

This song is about yellow fever allright...as in having a thing for asians, also known as yellow feva. Coldplay has an asian fetish and pays homage to this master race by singing a song called Yellow. It's really common to have an asian fetish. Guys are crazy about asian women! Why? Because their skin is so damn soft, hence the line "Your skiiiiin" And the line that says "Oh yeah your skin and bones"....hello, asians are all skinny. Have you ever met a skinny asian? They don't eat the crap that Americans do and have an average life span of 104 or something. A-Z-N's Rule! Yellow feva motherf*ckers!!

I think that the words are simple enough to have many intepretations. I would like image its God singing to us and how he loves us and sent his son to us. It makes me look up at the stars in wonder at what he has made. They look so simple being so far away but are of course unimaginable powerful. Awe inspiring.

This song reminds me of Aspergers, I don't know why it just does remind me straight forward about Aspergers Syndrome.

For those that say it's about Gwyneth Paltrow - do your research. This was written and recorded long before he even met her. Gah.

At one of his concerts he said that He couldn't think of what to name the song, so he looked a round and the first thing he saw was a YELLOW book... He said, "... In an alternate world it could've been called Playboy."

I fell in love with this song on accident. I was looking for a song that I heard on a movie and came across yellow. The minute I heard it I loved it because I found it to be the most beautiful LOVE song I have heard in a while. I am a true romantic! I believe that this along with many other songs do have an original meaning behind it, however what I found in this song was LOVE LOVE LOVE unconditional LOVE. I find different meanings in different songs. You and I may relate to the same song in totally different ways. That is the beauty of music. Isn't that why you fell in with the songs you did. Because you related...however or why you related the point is you related to it. The meaning behind any song is what ever you feel it is. enjoy the song and love it because you love how it relates to you. I feel that the true meaning is not really important. If you feel the need to know what it means I would check a different website. This one has some crazy answers

Hes talking about the girl he loves is dying. Your skin and bones turn into something beautiful is referring to going to heaven look at the stars see how they shine for you means she sees light and right before she dies he tells her all the things he has done for her and how much he loves her

I think it is about a breakup. The guy felt like his world evolved around her. And he would do anything for her. Hence the lines, "Look how they shine for you... I'd jump across for you..." And then they broke up and he had to accept it hence the line, " I drew a line for you..." It was the line he drew between their relationship. I hope this doesn't sound bad to you!! I just like it because it's about love. I LUV COLDPLAY!!

To be honest, I always thought this song had something to do with coke. This is going to sound stupid but whenever I listened to the song, I imagined this trashy coke head singing about his lady. His main goal in writing the song is to impress her.. but in the end, his pathetic attempt just led him to stated the obvious... "I drew a line for you" a line of coke. Haha. "for you id bleed myself dry"... with his frequent nose bleeds, the most romantic thing he could come up with had to do with his addiction. "your skin and bones" seeing as though one of the leading characteristics of a coke head is being skin and bones. And last but not least "yellow"... a common term and type of coke. HEY... I'm not saying any of this is true but next time you listen to the song... look at it from my point of view... Trust me, its much more entertaining. Haha

The interpretation that it was written for his goddaughter the most sense. It sounds as if he is welcoming someone into the world. There's a book called "on the day you were born" and it mentions looking at the stars and the world and how they all stopped the moment you came. I also had jaundice when I was born so it makes sense to mention yellow things that are beautiful because she is beautiful no matter what she looks like and will become more so

The song is a good tribute to the guy in yellow shirt who has left the 'Wiggles'; my daughter and I have had great fun watching Wiggles and miss the guy in yellow.......that is my take of the lyrics.

This song is about a girl the writer loves and the best way to describe her is yellow (i.e. Sunny, beautiful)

I don't really know what the whole Yellow thing is about, but I don't really care so much either. This song is a really sweet brotherly love sort of song, I think. At least that's how I interpret it. The first time I heard it was with a group of my friends...we all sat back and listened to it together. Now it seems to represent my relationships with my friends and classmates who I am really close to.
