This song is about two people who use eachother sexually and know its morally wrong, but it doesn't bother them. They have their normal relationships with other significant others but then the also have each other. One of the two people gets jealous, but realizes there's no point.

This song is about mastubation. They said it at Warped Tour in Chicago before they played the song.

A complex is when a son is sexually in love with his mother, and wants to kill his father thus the line "A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it" thinking he's a god and he can go by any means to get rid of the man thats in his way to get to the woman he wants.

I know it sounds weird, but common....this is fall out boy we are talking about here. they have crap like this in most of their songs,in another song they are talking about choking a girl and how "you look so good in blue." to justify my interpretaion, go back in the song when he's tlaking about spying on her and her lover making out and he says "Oh don't mind me I'm watching you two from the closet

Wishing to be the friction in your jeans
Isn't it messed up how I'm just dying to be him

Well, in any song when going about loving someone that's already taken you tend to be open about it, not so secretive. Plus, you never think it's messed up wanting to be the person that your lover's with. Even though xXMartiniKissXx said it was about masturbation (which is fine, the way they want to explain their song to an audience is their business) they may have thought explaining in depth what it was about would lose some of the audiance, thus ignorance is bliss.

Just look up 'Complex' or something for those of you who do not beleive me, I thought better of all of you. I basically solved the puzzle for you.

There are many types of complexes. Besides the fact that I don't think that it's at all applicable to this song, you are referring to is an Oedipus Complex.

I think this song is just about a guy who is in love with a girl who is dating someone else. He's just jealous and it's pretty obvious when he says " Oh don't mind me im watching you two from the closet wishing to be the friction in your jeans, isn't it messed up how im just dying to be him" I think that this song is just him explaining how he feels basically telling her everything he feels and not holding anything back. When he says "a loaded god complex cock it and pull it" I think he's referring to suicide, religion has it that if you commit suicide you wont go to heaven and he doesnt believe that that meaning " a loaded god Complex"

I think this song is the about a boy who is having an intense reaction to the simple supposedly physical based relationship he is in with this girl. Their chemistry was only supposed to be sexual, and the guy realizes that he is falling for her. In the song, the hook says, "I'm just a notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song." I think it's here that the band is singing about how the girl is totally emotionally detached, and sees the sexual conquest with the guy, as a "notch in her bedpost" and the guy, in retaliation, states that she's "just a line in a song" even though, he knows she more than that to him.

Shockergirl has it completely...

When you're trying to get the meaning to Fall Out Boy songs, not everything has to make sense... I mean c'mon even in this song, look at the line

"Drop a heart, break a name" it should definatly be "drop a name, break a heart" but they just made it that way.

I think that a part of the interpretation that is missing has to do with the phrase, "I'll be your number one with a bullet" which is probably a proper use of the phrase. It basically means the best or the first, and with a vengance or passion, and it comes from the way songs are listed in Billboards. Being number one is at the top of the charts, while a bullet signifies that the album or single sold better this week than the previous week, indicating it is continously gaining popularity.

This could be part of his dichotomy of wanting to be with her and being her "best" while hating her for using him. Also, "lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum" could be about how he feels like dying for being betrayed so badly (in his mind). And lastly, what I feel hasn't been addressed in full light, is the line "a loaded God complex, cock it and pull it." A God complex is generally referring to an individual's (generally erroneous) belief that they are God or have superhuman abilities or powers (most commonly used when someone believes that have an inherint ability to get away with things or do things that most people can't).

Here, he is probably referring to her attitude of being able to use guys sexually without having to face any consequences, and it's metaphorically used convey that the hurt he feels because of her attitude is like putting a loaded gun up to his head, cocking it, and pulling the trigger. In short, either the fact that she blows him off, or quite possibly the whole relationship (if you can even call it that), is emotionally killing him.

I agree with blnts_chick, I think he's talking about suicide. One of the first lines is "lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum." That's like a big tomb or grave (in a graveyard). He's obviously thinking about death-- from this and the "you're number one with the bullet, a loaded God complex, cock it and pull it." It sounds like he's considering killing her too. During one of the choruses there's an aside and he's singing "take aim at myself, take back what you said, take aim at myself, a loaded God complex, cock it and pull it."

I would have to agree completely with interpretation #2. Very good point. Also, I agree with another one that FOB's lyrics don't always make sense when they don't have to. So don't get confused. They're great writers.

A loaded god complex is a type of gun, it doesn't mean that he thinks that he is god and that he is in love with his mom or some such crap.

This song is just about the person that you're in love with that doesn't notice you. I was at their concert two days ago and they said that.

It's about a guy who really wants this girl and she wants to be a hook-up with him, but nothing more. She'll go out with other guys, but he just wants to be with her. He considers suicide, but decides against it.

Its about a guy who really likes the girl. However she is with another person rather than him. He would rather kill her and maybe himself if thats the only way he can prevent her from being with someone else

Sorry about my previous interpretation but after reading the lyrics again it seems that he loves this girl but cannot be with her and he kills himself at the end.

I need to set two things straight:

A complex is not always sexual relations between a mother and son, (that's called incest), it can be any number of things. A God Complex is not a type of gun. Sorry but whoever said that was completely wrong. A God Complex is the belief that one is godlike, and thus better than others.

All who said that the song was about sexual relations between two people purely for the sake of sexual relations are correct.
