I think that a part of the interpretation that is missing has to do with the phrase, "I'll be your number one with a bullet" which is probably a proper use of the phrase. It basically means the best or the first, and with a vengance or passion, and it comes from the way songs are listed in Billboards. Being number one is at the top of the charts, while a bullet signifies that the album or single sold better this week than the previous week, indicating it is continously gaining popularity.
This could be part of his dichotomy of wanting to be with her and being her "best" while hating her for using him. Also, "lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum" could be about how he feels like dying for being betrayed so badly (in his mind). And lastly, what I feel hasn't been addressed in full light, is the line "a loaded God complex, cock it and pull it." A God complex is generally referring to an individual's (generally erroneous) belief that they are God or have superhuman abilities or powers (most commonly used when someone believes that have an inherint ability to get away with things or do things that most people can't).
Here, he is probably referring to her attitude of being able to use guys sexually without having to face any consequences, and it's metaphorically used convey that the hurt he feels because of her attitude is like putting a loaded gun up to his head, cocking it, and pulling the trigger. In short, either the fact that she blows him off, or quite possibly the whole relationship (if you can even call it that), is emotionally killing him.

Ok, you people are seriously retarded, the song is about a boy, who has ANTLERS, and is in love with a girl, who's father has DEER FEET, and the father doesn't want the girl and boy dating because he doesn't want his grandchildren to be a deer. As far as the song goes, it's not about masturbation, not about doing anything for a girl, it's about fucking up and doing it over again.

It's about an antler kid trying to get horny... because the girl he wants, wants him to have a bigger thing... Then she'll love him

Those who say this is a song about obsession is correct. When someone is obsessed with another person, they watch them from a distance, they fantasize about having sex with that person, they will do anything for that person even if it means killing themselves to prove it. They may have had a relationship with this person at one point, but the obesession gets stronger when that relationship ends.
The narrator obviously is a lovesick obsessed puppy who sees himself as nothing more than an object insignificant to this girl's eyes. Yet he claims that he can become the person that she wants him to be, or even greater.
In the first verse "Am I more than you bargained for yet" means Am I good enough for you yet?
"I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear because that's just who I am this week" means I 'll do/say anything for you to love/accept me. The narrator doesn't know who he is and feels he can be one personality this week and another personality next week, just as long as he becomes the type of person that she will accept.
"Lie in the grass next to the mausoleam" means he is lying dead in his grave because she didn't love him back. It is not literal, it only means he would die for her. This was inserted at the beginning of the song even though it is an end result of an obsession gone wrong.
"I'm just a notch in your bedpost" means she used him for sex and has no feelings for him. "But you're just a line in a song" means he has stronger feelings for her but is downplaying that and saying he used her too. This shows how conflicted the narrator is with the fact that his love and obsession was not reciprocated by her.
"Drop a heart, break a name" again the reciprocated words depict how conflicted the narrator's heart is by this 'betrayal.' The literal meaning is she dropped the name of some other guy she's seeing to break his heart. When someone drops a name, they do it purposefully to get a reaction from another person.
"We've been sleeping in and sleeping for the wrong team" means they slept with each other and with other people. But those were the wrong people in the narrator's eyes, and that he believes they belong together.
"we're going down, down, in an earlier round, and Sugar we're going down swinging" means he accepts that this relationship is doomed from the start, but he will not go down without a fight. It's a cry of desperation when he realizes what he's fighting for is useless. It's possible that he pays homage to Sugar Ray Leonard in this line in reference to a boxing match.
"I'll be your number one with a bullet" I think there are parallel meanings here. It refers to the fact that he believes he can win her over and she will adore him. Yet the writer uses the analogy of a crazed fan of a #1 band to define that adoration.
"A loaded God complex cock it and pull it" refers to the GIRL having a God complex. A God complex is the belief that one can decide the fate of another's life. Doctors and surgeons are accused of having a God complex because in their line of work someone's life is in their hands day in and day out. So the narrator is saying "my life/destiny/fate/happiness is in her hands, she has the power to break my heart and kill me with her words and actions."
Awesome lyrics, though depressing. It really defines the desperation a person feels when something you love does not love you back.

I absolutely agree with the above poster. A God complex is when someone can decide whether a person deserves to live or die. The guy says she has a "loaded God complex cock it and pull it" means she can end his life or let him live but the decision solely lies in her hands. The guy's a tool. No offense.

I THINK YOU ARE ALL RIGHT!! Fall Out Boy have their own meaning and interpretation for the lyrics. What ever that is, it doesn't matter because all of us have our own. All their tunes (lyrics) mean something to me personally. I interpret them regarding things that have happened in my life or to my emotions. This makes me love their music even more. I know that it has a specific meaning to them but what use are their emotions to me? All I know is they are great song writers and Im in love with Pete Wentz! I'm going to Hammersmith Apollo on the 2nd of April to see them live!!!!!

This song is about a guy who is in love with a fat and ugly girl, "Wishing to be the friction in your jeans..."
She has a lover though. He still loves her though, even though he knows it is weird to want to be the guy with the fat and ugly girl, "...Isn't it messed up how I'm just dying to be him." That's what it is really about.

Well the video is with the boy as a deer a "young buck" and the girls dad was once a young buck like that and look how he turned out but the young buck boy or what ever you want to call him tries to change for the girl and for her father but she likes him the way he is no matter what but at the end it shows the dad trying to kill the boy and when he gets hit by the car you see his deer feet so you know that he was once a young buck too and so yeah basically he didn't really try to kill the boy he wanted to get rid of him or change him so the boy wouldn't end up like him.

I believe this song is about a guy and a girl who had something for a little while ("I'm just a notch in your bedpost"), but they really didn't see it, and now the girl is going out with someone else. The guy just can't get over it.

This it's about masturbation!! C'mon they said that!! and.. I think that if you put His and not your (jeans) it fixes...
sleeping for the wrong team - He isn't having sex with other girl he's well.. you know... XD and the girl maybe it's watching him from the closet wishing to be her and not the hand of the boy...
c'mon.. cock out and pull it... That's so clear! cock it's... That!!
THIS SONG IT'S ABOUT MASTURBATION! Think in double sense! It's not all what it seems... you need to see the things in a more pervert way... all the comments about the girl and the guy are just.. emo

I think this song is basically just about a guy who is in love with a girl so badly he thinks its sick. Also he thinks its wrong of him to like her so badly when she's already got a guy. Problem Solved!!

Most of the songs off of their first album are about how his girlfriend cheated on him with his best friend. Same thing with this song.

It means how the guy (dude with antlers in vid) is in love with her, and he would do anything for her hence the phrase "ive been dying to tell you anything you want to hear" and the singer (patrick) but just in the story line though, is jealous "I'm just a notch in your'e bedpost, but your just a line in a song", he is trying to make out that he dosnt have feelings for her. "ill be your number one with a bullet" meaining he's trying to get her to like him. That's what I think. Pete says that every song he writes has something to do with his life, so ask him for the real meaning, but that's what I think

Fall Out Boy's pete wentz recently disclosed in an interview that this song is actually about his first gay experience (ie going down on a guy). Sorry to everyone out there who thinks that he's in love with a girl hence "watching you two from the closet". I was shocked when I first found this out as I think pete is gorgeous, but it's probably just a phase he's going through.
The lines:
"a loaded god complex (something godlike eg: the other guy's penis) cock it and pull it"
"sleeping for the wrong team"
"Isn't it messed up how I'm just dying to be him?"
Next time you listen to that song you'll hear everything differently lol. Still a fantastic song though. I love it! and I love fall out boy. I've nothing against gay people =]

Well..... This is actually about Pete Wentz stalking somebody, and the lyrics "sleeping on your front porch...drop dead" are about her finding out about him stalking her. unfortunatly she 1. Isn't interested, and 2. Is being stalked so its a bit wrong.

I think that this song is talking about a guy who loves a girl more then anything else and he is explaining how he will do anything to make it work
He may mention the words " loaded gun complex" but I don't think that he's talking about an actual gun I think that he's talking about the strenght of his love for her and making the relationship work

First off, everyone's wrong. Most songs are written for self interpretation. If you want the song to be about a guy and a girl and jealousy, or about a guy being in the closet, or as fall out boys at our band going from a normal band to mainstream media. Personally, when someone posted that FOB said in an interview about the beginning of the song being about being who the mainstream wants them to be as an image, then I see the rest of the song as a satire. Like Loaded God Complex, cock and pull it. In a industry where you can be Loaded God, and you can cock it back and shoot, I'm going down , down, sugar were going down swinging. but hey I'm probably wrong too.
