Fall Out Boy - XO Song MeaningsLyrics:I comb the crowd and pick you out My mouth moves too fast for you to figure it out It starts eyes closed to fingers crossed "To I swear, I... (See the rest of these lyrics) Submitted by: GerardLover123 Added: 2005-10-20 18:00:32   Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() This whole song is about a person on ANTI-LOVE.
Submitted by: anonymous This song is about finding a girl in a club, getting drunk off your ass and going back to the hotel with her, then waking up in the morning and realising exactly what you've done.
Submitted by: cherryxbliss Adding to the second post, not only is it about finding random girls at bars and sleeping with them, but it's also about doing it to get revenge upon the girl/guy back home, and doing it multiple times. Also, there's a certain fear that this sort of thing is going to leak out "Loose lips sink ships."
Submitted by: anonymous This song's about how his conscience never did him any good - "to the love/I left my conscience pressed/between the pages of the Bible in the drawer/what did it ever do for me? I say" and how they try to run away from people trying to judge them - "to drinks at the club, to the bar, to the keys in your car/to hotel stairs*stares/to the emergency exit door" and about how he wants to be with this girl but his attempts are getting him nowhere. and if he told her how he really felt, it'd all fall apart. "loose lips sink ships." Anyway, that's my interpretation, IM me or email me if you have any comments on my ideas for this song, at KTRocks05@yahoo.com. Thanks!
Submitted by: anonymous "to the love/I left my conscience pressed/between the pages of the Bible in the drawer/what did it ever do for me? I say" --that part has to definitely be about hooking up with someone at a hotel. There is always a bible in the drawer at a hotel
Submitted by: anonymous The phrase "loose lips sink ships" was originally propoganda from WW2, I believe (not sure if that's the right way though) which could possibly hint that love is nothing but propoganda. The idea that love is used to trick girls into sex.
Submitted by: anonymous "Loose Lips Sink ships" refers to betrayal.
Submitted by: L0VECANTSAVEY0U Pete said it was about how his conscience never did anything good for him
Submitted by: anonymous "I swear I say" means they really shouldn't be doing something....
Submitted by: anonymous I think, it is about him TRYING to find REAL love in a business where all he can get is groupies and real love is more than hard to find. So he "combs the crowd and picks her out" and then he takes her to the bar, then to a hotel room, and eventually she leaves out of the emergency exit door. I'm figuring he sleeps with her, and I guess falls for her. but she turns out to be just like all the other groupies, and only slept with him because he was in FALLOUTBOY. "through the keyhole I watched you dress" - she slept with someone else "loose lips sink ships" - he found out somehow. "I left my conscience pressed, between the pages of the bible in the drawer, "what did it ever do for me" I say." ----- his conscience never does anything for him, the bible in the drawer is evidently a reference to a hotel room....i guess he regrets sleeping with her -- or just regrets falling for her because he should have known that she was not the kind he was looking for...
Submitted by: anonymous It is about how the main character has an afair with a girl. At first, they meet at a club, and have a couple of drinks. Shortly after, they leave to have a couple of drinks at a bar. Apparently drunk, the two intertwine and make love. Now, the part that people don't catch in this song is "to the love I left my conscience presssed between the pages of the bible in the drawer. What did it ever do for me, I say?" This implies that the girl HAS A BOYFRIEND. He is saying that he knows that he shouldn't be doing this, and that he is arguing with his conscience, and then questions himself on what this "bible" ever really did for him. The part, "Through the keyhole I watch you dress" states that he is now not seeing her, because it was a one night fling. He now is so attached, that he stalks her until she likes him. The line "Loose lips sink ships" merely means that she made great love with him, and it was a great way to show passion with him.
Submitted by: anonymous Basically, this is what I personally think the song is about:
Submitted by: anonymous I bet you any money it has anything to do with nothing, or has nothing to do with anyone else has written about. Fall Out Boy don't just write it out simply, and if any of these meanings where to make sense you would have to ignore several lines, which would make no sense.
Submitted by: anonymous Ok both songs are on the album xo and I slept with someone in fall out boy etc... So the whole they switched out song name thing that's bull and basically it is about a some groupie slut sleeping around after using him and when he finds out he wishes the worse for her because he broke his heart 'i hoped you choked
Submitted by: anonymous Its a story! Its about how he thinks love is sex, and he's making the mistake of interpreting that. Then when a girl stands him up, he's sad because he thought it was something real. And he says that when he's depressed, he never feels love, and that it never wanted him, but he took it anyways, meaning he tried to make a relationship work anyways. Geeze
Submitted by: anonymous I think I'm so way off it's unnatural but here's my idea,
Submitted by: anonymous the meaning I got out of this song wasnt exactly like him falling in love witha girl unintentionally and then finding out the girl only liked em because he was in FOB. I got that he did like a girl like in most songs who broke his heart by probably cheating on him " watched you dress, kiss and tell" and now he is just like screw it and just sleeps with any girl he finds( the whole part about combing the crowd and the bar and the hotel) and I think he is saying he knows its wrong but he doesn't feel remorse because being good never helped him any"to the love I left my conscience pressed between the pages of the bible in the drawer what did it ever do for me I say, it never calls me when I'm down love ner wanted me, but I took it anyway" but even though he thinks he doesn't care anymore he does and he is hurt and angry at the girl who broke his heart" I hoped you choke and crashed your car..." I'm not sure but I think the whole part about"put your ear to the speaker and choose love or sympathy..." is saying you either love him or you sympathize with him and that's why you sleep with him but it can't be both.well that's what I think.
Submitted by: anonymous I believe this song is about a person (not necessary in Fallout Boy, but in general terms), cheating on his girlfriend in look for love. The first line "comb you out of the crowd"..doesn't necessary mean from an audience or a literal crowd, but a selection of females that the guy is attracted to. He hooks up with the girl and now, here's the screwy part, doesn't feel guilty about it. The line "..conscience pressed between the pages of the bible in the drawer" imples that the bible is useless (notice how it's in the drawer), just like his conscience. The song makes it seem like his girlfriend back at home cheated on him first. The line "love never wanted me", meaning he has been cheated several times in the past or that the girlfriend is his love and she is treating him badly.
Submitted by: psPatrick2707 Face it, this songs about one night stands and those nights where you just let loose and drink and wake up the next day confused and feeling like shit.
Submitted by: astrosaki I think this is about hooking up with someone, but more than that hooking up with a male. There are so many clues sugesting tht members (mainly pete) are homosexual/homoerotic/curious.
