I didn't get the video either - I love the band and think it's great that they have all of this deep confusing stuff, but what's with the cards?

I agree. These songs are awesome, but the videos do go off on a little biit of a tangent. I'm sure there is some point, but who knows what it is. And for all of you who keep posting stuff about "ugh he wrote the song NO! HE wrote the song!"I thought Pete was the lyricist, but I do think Patrick co-writes sone of the songs. But does it really matter its still fantastic music. Who cares who wrote it? They're a BAND. They should ALL be given some credit.

Ok the videos about this: Patrick is a cop tracking Pete, a murderer Pete leaves a calling card at the scene of the crime, and Patrick's trying to interpret what they mean But he can never catch Pete, at the end, he finally does meet up with Pete, but Pete kills him. However, suddenly Pete's wearing Patrick's jacket with the cards in it, and Pete falls dead. Pete and Patrick were the same person with split personality disorder, that's why Patrick can't find Pete, and that's why Pete dies in the end. This is also hinted at during the video when Patrick and Pete are driving, its the same car in different colors. Also, when Patrick bangs his hand, Pete is hurt. It's kind of like "Fight Club", if you've ever seen it. As for the song itself, I think that it's about someone who's bored and anxious about something coming up on Saturday, but right now it seems like nothings happening. Could also be about hitting it big as a band and having fun, and disliking being bored in between shows.

I was watching a youtube video with Patrick and Pete explaining the meaning of Saturday. According to them...or better yet to Patrick..."he" not Pete wrote the song talking about his graduation. He was talking about how he and all of his classmates were going to be going on different roads. Patrick went on to say that the song as referred to Fall Out Boy's music in general and how as the band they are elevating and going on to new levels in their career and also how they were improving.

THE SONG IS NOT ABOUT SUICIDE! On the take this to your grave directors cut DVD, Patrick clearly states that it's about graduating from high school and feeling like a failure.

I think it's great and that it's about getting started the people that think it's about suicide are nuts I think you are just looking for something that's not there your reading to much into it

This is not about suicide at all. Patrick wrote the song. Patrick's not suicidal. I think Saturday is about how Patrick's life was pretty boring and ordinary before he met Pete ("read about the after-life, but I never really lived") and now that he's in fall out boy everything is "golden". Either way, I think it's pretty obvious this song is like "the" fall out boy song for them. It represents who they are perfectly. -hanna.

I really have no idea what this song means but I wish someone could explain it better than what I've heard. I'm pretty sure its not about Pete's suicide attempt no one ever gives him 4 any thing any more. So what about the attempt he probably feels realay bad about it he was just depressed. I've been there, it doesn't feel good so I no how he's feeling. Just leave him alone! Discuss this group in the Fall Out Boy forum Email me when this band is updated |
