I think this song could be about how obsessed fans can be, and how they can want so much out of their idols and how MCR might feel that even though they do all they can its never enough for their fans or other people.
'Give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff, give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough'
As if they are giving their very souls in their work, pouring out every ounce of them into what they do and how some people can still want more.

Might not be though. Just what I think.

I think Blood is about the lead singer having to go to the hospital constantly "The doctors and the nurses they adore me so" and giving blood to his father who is dying of cancer. "So give them blood, blood Gallons of the stuff" But no matter how much blood he gave his father, it wasn't enough. "Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough" And his father ended up dying of cancer.

I heard blood is a medaphore as well, and it's about the record companies and that they always want more and more. It was in some interview with My Chem, they went though all of their songs and said what they were about.

The song blood still has to do with the concept of the black parade. It's about how the patient sees all the doctors at the hospital as vampires because all they do is take blood tests and samples.

I reckon I kinda know what it's about... but I'm really bad at explaining stuff so all my thoughts are locked away in my head. and the silence at the start is because its a hidden track and comes on after a while because its hidden.

It's about killing for people and the killing never stops I think it goes back to the song "mama" cause that song is about the war... and yea that's my interp so don't get up on my grill

This can be in "the patient's" perspective as he's delerious from the cancer. Because of him being sick, he needs to have blood taken constantly, and in his delirium, it's as though everyone wants the blood for their own sake, maybe to drink, because they just keep taking it. No matter how much they get they keep taking more. He's awful about it, but they love him anyway for giving blood. They try and get him to cooperate, with gifts and putting up with him, but...

I think its referring back to vampires will never hurt you
its about how people will benefit from you and will always want more

Blood could be an interpretation or metaphor of like love and hard work, a character being in a war, he gave his blood for the war and never got anything back. a good amount of their songs are about war. well they encourage your complete corporation could mean the war expects you to do as you are called for and when you are called for. Send you roses when they think you need to smile. could mean when you're going to give up they help you. I can't control myself because I don't know how and they love me for it honestly I'll be here for a while...could mean he doesn't want to be here but he knows they need him. and he knows he will be here in the army for awhile. So give them blood blood gallons of the stuff give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough so give them blood blood bloooooooood grab a glass because there is going to be a flood. could mean he always gives and he never gets credit, he shows off to them and they still don't care because its his duty. etx. etc...

this is all a guess, but it seems right to me! or not idk!!

This song is rather mean to the fans.

It's saying that we've been latching onto the band and they just wanted a break and we keep begging them for more. 'I gave you more than you could drink and it is never enough' is a clear line justifying that.

I think this song is about a mental patient.
"Well they encourage all complete cooperation,
Bring you roses when they think you need to smile." Somehow this song reminds me of a patient in a psyche ward who keeps having visions of his doctors being vampires. That' just my POV, though.

I'm quite amazed that no one has thought about the fact that this song might refer to Gerard's time in rehab.

"Blood, Blood, gallons of the stuff, give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough..." Constant blood samples for tests and such.

"They encourage your complete cooperation, send you roses when they think you need to smile." The doctors and nurses don't want to look like bad guys, they want you to help them help you.

"I can't control myself because I don't know how." He can't control his urges.

"The doctors and the nurses they adore me so, but it's really quite alarming 'cause I'm such an awful fuck." They smile and treat him well despite what he's done.

It's definitely a different view than the others I've seen here, although several of them make just as much sense as well.

I Think this song is poking fun at Old fashioned blood letting. Making it morbidly comical in a way.
anonymous 2008-03-15 01:00:33
I think it's about a patient in the hospital because it says "Well they encourage your complete cooperation"--when the doctor tells you exactly what the procedure will be and how you need to act and "Send you roses when they think you need to smile"--like how people send you flowers in the hospital. and he know he's not doing so well but the nurses and doctors are just nice and professional "The doctors and the nurses they adore me so,But it's really quite alarming cause I'm such an awful fuck.""And they love me for it honestly, I'll be here for a while." and he has to have so many blood test and what not and he's tired of it

I think this song is proof that the patient lives.
Gerard had said that originally he thought the patient died, but then he thought that maybe the patient could fight it, in Famous Last Words.
HE had cancer, but he had an operation, and lost blood. Now he needs a transfusion.

I think "blood" is used to symbolize something really special... for example, gerard's music... It's something really special that everybody wants....

i dunno where my lines are going... but I really think this song is about not being satisfied...or obsession...

gerard is so deep.... He always use symbolism in his songs...

I also hear about a minute of silence when I play the song on my iPod. I think it might have something to do with the fact that it's a hidden track, but since I don't know what that means I might be completely wrong.

And now, for the interpretation:

I don't think it's necessary to search for any deep meaning in this song. I acknowledge the possibility that it could be about a romantic relationship as somebody said, but I think it's just about a man who gives a lot of blood in a hospital of vampires or something. Who cares– it's a funny song.

This is a song describing the medical industry to a T.

"they encourage your complete cooperation, send you roses when they think you need to smile." Everyone assures you that your complete trust and faith should be in a doctor. You receive flowers at a hospital, etc.

"I can't control myself because I don't know how, and they love me for it honestly, I'll be here for a while." People have no idea how to take care of their own bodies anymore, and doctors MAKE MONEY FROM IT and will continue to do so, as each drug and each operation makes more and more problems for the individual.

"so give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff, give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough. So give them blood, blood, blood; grab a glass because there's going to be a flood." Doctors drink in the profits from making people sick.

"A celebrated man amongst the gurneys, they'll fix me proper with a bit of luck. The doctors and the nurses they adore me so but it's really quite alarming 'cause I'm such an awful f*ck... (why thank you)." Doctors are looked up to and completely trusted and idolized. A show is made for caring about the well being of a patient when really you are just a number on a computer and more often than not, they despise you.

"I gave you blood, blood, gallons of the stuff, I gave you all that you could drink and it has never been enough. I gave you blood, blood, blood... I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love!" No matter how many times you see a doctor, THEY CAN'T FIX YOU WITH THEIR KNIVES OR THEIR DRUGS. and they love the fact that you, the human wreckage, will always come to them for more.

I think it's just a Gerard-ishly humorous song:]
pinkslipgirl 2008-06-15 18:50:29
I related to this song when I was going through a rough time with my boyfriend,
I think it's talking about leaving a relationship, or taking a break in a relationship.

Or maybe that's just me, it's far off from everyone else's, but that was the personal significance it had for me.
<3

thanks,

I think its saying no matter how much you cut you self and bleed it won't fix your problems.
