I think that these guy and girl went out, and they were like really close, then broke up - not sure why. anyway so this girl goes out and does another guy, just a one night stand, totally meaningless and a stupid attempt to get over her ex. but by sleeping woth another guy she's totally ended the relationship with the guy she really loves, because he won't have her back once he knows what she's done, even though he knows she still loves him "You know it will always just be me" but now he just thinks she's a slag, and he's determined to let everyone know what he thinks "I hope you didn't expect to get all of the attention" and it doesn't matter how bad she felt after her one night stand "Shock sets in and the stomach acid finds a new way to make be sick" she's totally ruined their chances of ever being together again.

ha...i agree with the one who asked who would dump ryan ross. He looks so sweet! anyway this is my favorite song and I get the video:
the fish bowls represent that we are all in our own little worlds. until something bad happens to someone we care about and we're sucked right out. The dead guy I think is ryan and the girl is his girlfriend. She cheated on him, broke his heart and he died. She sees what her selfishness did to him (lets not be selfish did you really think id let you kill this chorus?) so she's sucked out of her little world and dies too.

okay to the chick who is giving numbered reasons for why the band sucks, why are you reading an interpretation of one of their songs?
i mean I don't really like listening to slipknot cause I think its mostly just shouting and screaming, some of their stuff is alright but I'm not a big fan. So I don't go on sites looking for things on them because that would be a waste of my time.
but of course if you don't really have a life I guess it aint that big a deal.
and also, this is meant to be a lyric interpretation site, not a site where people can bitch about what is or isn't music.
oh and just because you have a personal opinion doesn't mean everyone has to share that view. I don't go around bitching about slipknot and telling people to listen to the music I like cause like most people I can appreciate that its still music even if its not my taste and that people are different.
i think the song is about the dudes ex girlfriend btw and how he's really bitter and pissed about how she cheated.

Heya Metal, the movies called Closer, I haven't seen it but in the comments above a few ppl have mentioned that the song is from that movie. I think its the one with Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen.
Well that's all I have to say, love couch (sasha) :P

This and the song directly following the intermission on the cd are titled after a line from the movie closer, in which Natilie Portman states "lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off, but its better if you do"

Its based on the movie Closer same as But It's Better If You Do. This is that guy Larry talking to Anna and asking about Dan and if he was better etc. Then But It's Better If You Do is when he goes to the strip club and sees Alice/Jane.

I think everyone here has done a good job with the meaning of this song. Now, to the person just being generally mean. Look, you need to get a life, or a hobby, or something. There are bands that I don't like, but I don't go looking for discussions on them to go and diss them. I listen to Rage Against the Machine, Van Halen, Metallica, and I also listen to "sell-out" bands like Fall Out Boy and Green Day. Just because you don't like a band doesn't mean you have the right to go and piss off the people who do like that band.

This is the reason that music is as fun as it is, because it's so diverse that you can like zeppelin or rage for their radical guitar work and you can still like p!atd for their ridiculously catchy vocals.
i understand that not everyone can appreciate both chimaera and the postal service at the same time like me, but I think that accepting other peoples tastes is crucial.
except hawthorne heights. They suck.

I think it's about two teenagers apparently in love. and they...lose it together...so anyway they break up and every time the girl is with another guy she remembers something that maybe he said? (you know it will always be me) which can also mean that shell always remember that he was her first. maybe she's with a guy in a car? (exchanging heat in the passangers seat...?)
however, the music video has a different take. Two adults are in love and he was thrown off a building. She finds him in the road and she kills herself. They have to be in water to survive so the paramedics come and throw them in the ocean where theyll be together forever. Theyre kinda bad at music vidoes they don't really pertain to the songs...

Pretty simple: This is part of the trilogy that also includes I Write Sins Tragedies and But It's Better If You Do . It's about the bride who cheated on her groom and it's the groom saying that he hopes that little one night stand with the other man was worth it because he will never be able to forgive her and telling she'll never find anyone as good as him. The chorus says he hopes that the teens listening will learn from the song and not let their lover do that to them, to hold them close because he really loved this girl and under the bitterness he's really just sad that he lost her to some random guy. Oh and testocerone is the male sex hormone and Harlequin was a mime, a mute, so in this song I'm pretty sure it's supposed to mean shy not clown-like.

There are two main themes in this song. First we have the whole betrayal aspect. However I believe that's secondary. As simple and concrete as it sounds the main theme in this song is sex. Reveling in the nostalgia of sex, to be more precise. The relationship between the narrator and the guy wasn't based off love, just sex. I think that's why Ryan referred to "testosterone" boys, to show how primitive the relationship was.

The title is from the movie 'Closer.' The quote is 'Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off, but it's better if you do'

It's about a girl who cheats on her boyfriend and has fun lying to him behind his back by doing some dude. They can only breathe in water because its like there heart that they carry around with them(hence the fishbowls) and when there hearts are broken there 'waterhearts' break as well. when the ambulance comes instead of going to a hospital after the 'waterheartattack' they take him to the ocean/beach/sea w.e it is so that he can breathe again, they are repairing his heart. I'm not sure about my interpretation but its funner when you interpret it yourself to see what I means to you, like searching lyrics and listening to the song and breaking it down piece by piece to find out what it means to you. :]
cool facts about the video:
brendon urie is one of the ambulance peoples
brendon urie is not the guy whos 'water' broke.
:D not too cool but w.e!

It might be about Brendon and Audrey Kitching. She cheated on him, you know.

I think it is about a girl who already has a boyfriend but she also has a secret lover, who is more passionate than is boyfriend. With this lover she has better sex, better kisses.
But I also think that the people of the song are teenagers. Like a teen love, but with cheating and sex, etc where nobody thinks on what she/he is doing, cause, you know, they are teenagers :)
