It's hard to wake up
When the shades have been pulled shut
This house is haunted
It's so pathetic
It makes no sense at all.

Yes, this seems obvious. It's about a destructive home, where they parents can't stop arguing, and the kids just sit by and watch. Looking back, a grown-up kid (Mark Hoppus) realizes that it wasn't all his fault, as he thought as a child.

Divorce sucks! My parents arent divorced but they've been fighting since I was born, this song eases the pain and just gets me more motivated. Thanks, blink.

Tom wrote this song in his driveway when he was 16. His parents had just told them they were getting a divorce, and he went outside and sat in his car and wrote the lyrics to this song.

As the last guy said, Tom says in the Chronicles 2 video that it's about a day when he was sitting in his driveway and his family basically just fell apart.

It's just pellucid that it's about a family matter going wrong. No complain..it happens to every family, except for the outcome. I've been living through hell since I was a kid, no wonder I'm such a crook now. Thanks a lot Blink for making me feel like I'm not alone in this case.

Okay this isn't a lyric interpretation, but how can blink 182 have a song called "stay together for the kids" but they don't stay together for US kids? I was devastated when they broke up. Their music is really good.

Yeah, I really think Blink-182 should've stayed together for the kids..I cried a little when I saw the "Not Now" video....They're were and still are my favorite band...They'll get together again though.....Hopefully.

Angels And Airwaves is supposed to be the best thing that happens to rock. What Tom doesn't know is that Blink-182 was already one of the best things to happen to rock.

Yeah, I've only heard one song from Angels and Airwaves but I don't think it's very good. It's like Tom is trying too hard to make his voice NOT sound like it did in blink 182. His voice is too deep. And Angels and Airwaves just don't seem FUN. What about songs like 'What's my age again?'?

Hopefully blink gets back together and they'll be better than ever. Tom will realise he left a good thing behind.

I believe that this song is about a kid whos parents always fight and yell at each other. The kid just sits and listens to it thinking its his fault.
The Line: "Will You, Remember this night. Twenty Years Now Lost. Its not right" refers to the night his parents fought and ended up divorced. The kid is saying that its not right that his parents would fight and let the kid watch and cause him all the trauma.

Yeah, Tom does say it in urethra chronicles and yeah, you're right, A&A suck I don't like them. I listened to a song, got halfway and just thought it wasn't right. Tom isn't right, it isn't him A&A, Plus 44 and any other band they're going to make isn't gonna be right. They'll look back in 20 years and say "it's not right."

This song is pretty easy to grasp the concept of:

"So here's your holiday, hope you enjoy it this time"
The 'holiday' is the divorce, and the singer sarcastically hopes they 'enjoy' it, though it probably won't be any better

"You gave it all away, it was mine"
This refers to 'giving away' the family by splitting up, the family was his and he is angry about this

"So when you're dead and gone, will you remember this night?"
'This night' is the night where the parents probably had the last fight leading up to the divorce, and the singer is basically saying that they probably won't even remember what happened (so its 'pointless')

"Twenty years now lost, its not right"
Pretty obvious, they were married for 20 years and now its all down the drain, its not right

The 1st & 2nd verses are pretty self explanitory

And in my opinion, Angels and Airwaves is a really good band. Its completely different from Blink 182, and some people may not like that. But that's what it is, DIFFERENT. You can't compare the two just because they share a singer. And Tom's personality is still there, being in a different band doesn't change that. You people just have to realize that he's a grown man now, with a wife and kids (well, she's pregnant with his 2nd child, a boy now), and he can't be silly & sing about sophomoric topics anymore.

Great song!! Might be my favorite on the CD too!...The title mainly tells you what the song is about...the home...the divorce...not good...I went through my parents divorce and it probably was the worse thing that ever happened in my life. everyone has the idea what this song is about...tom is my favorite in the band...i think his writing of lyrics is way more better than mark's I must say (tom has deeper meaning in his songs)

Your all thick if you actually listen to what mark and tom say you will understand! Tom has even said himself it was when his mom and dad split, and he realized that his life was changing in major way, and couldn't see how they waste all the time they were married

It's about when Tom Delonge was 16 his parents said they were getting divorced after he just sat in his car cause his life was falling apart. It says in Ureatha Chronicles 2 and in a Kerrang! interview. There's 2 videos because they shot 1 with a house kinda falling down but it was a day before 9/11 so they said it was too much like the scenes on tv. You can see the video on Chronicles 2.

Tom wrote this song not mark, and he wrote it because when he was 18 his parents divorced and he was sitting on his drive way when it all happened.

My parents are not divorced but they fight a lot so I love this song. I write poetry also so I love the lyric "If a stupid poem could fix this home I'd read it every day" When Blink182 was making the music video they were going to show a wrecking ball knocking down a house as a metaphor for a ruined house but the next day 9/11 happened and they thought the idea of a building falling down might offend people so they re-shot the video and changed it.
