In this farewell,
There’s no blood,
There’s no alibi.
‘Cause I’ve drawn regret,
From the truth,
Of a thousand lies.

All of you are wrong. This song is about humanity's neglect of the society and environment that we're responsible for. We are all so caught up in power, money, and pride, that we forget about all the atrocities that occur every day. This song calls for everyone to change their ways and make things right in the world. Our world, socially and environmentally, is falling apart because of one thing - us.

Ok this song can have several meanings its like the band said in the dvd "the song is about how we moved on from their old song to their new one and how it could impact their career but it can also be about society and how we take a lot for granite its left open for interpretation so you can find your own meaning to the song and relate to it.

God, all you girls are so fucked up. Their song is meant to be interpreted the way you want them to be! Yes, all their songs have special meanings to the band members themselves. However, YOU can interpret it in any way that YOU want to. Every single song that Linkin Park has created touches someone in a completely different way. Every one has a different meaning for different people. Stop being morons to each other because as far as I'm concerned, you're all correct. Get it? Got it? Good.

Actually in the Album book
They said it can apply 2 many things like freedom.
Murder.
Letting go.
New beginnings
Read The FINE print next to the lyrics in the book.

I like this song a lot because of their meaning, especially with the video. They're basically saying that we are destroying ourselves. We have all this stuff and we don't appreciate it. Like in the video, you've got all these starving people who are literally starving to death. We've got all this food at our disposal, but we don't eat it just so we can be thin, and those starving people would rather be full than thin. Get it?

I'm pretty sure the song is talking about how the world as a whole is going to crap, with the pollution, murders, rapes, starvation and everything else that's damaging the world, I think the video pretty much explains everything.

I think it is the exact opposit of the song "If everyone cared" because what I've done if you watch the video is about destroying the earth when if everyone cared is about what th world would be like if well everyone cared. So what I've done is saying it is time for me to let go of all the wrong I've done and try to do better from now on. You know start with a clean slate. That is the way I see the song.

This is NOT about high school... Mike Shinoda writes most of the songs and he is 30 years old. Joe Hahn said in an interview that part of this song is about how the band is saying goodbye to the nu-metal they have been doing and now want to "start again".
Another part of it is how they want to "wash away" "cross out" "let go" what they, a group they are associated with, or our country has done to discriminate, destroy our earth, and whatever else anybody can think of. As somebody else said; Linkin Park songs are tailored so they can fit all audiences and touch everybody no matter how different they are.

The meaning behind them reach even the lowest parts of the soul and allow you to open your mind to a broader concept
my look on the song shows that humanity its in whole needs to start again, the things we've all done and are doing the clips in the video do not just depict America but the world in a whole the song may be about there band changing but the deeper meaning shows that as a world we can start over with no pain no tears and no blood but it takes a change to undo what we've done

It is a very moving song
It has a message of look at what we (human race) have done to the thing we inhabit (Earth) basically saying stop doing what is wrong and harmful to the earth as well as each other.

The song is simply about recognizing your faults of the past and moving on to the future.

Wow mach your interpretation is WAY out there, I agree that is about both problems in the world and what we have done to ruin it, and hurting some1 close but wants them to forgive.

I feel this song is about wanting a new beginning, but still unsure of a lot of things. He doesn't care how much pain is created, he wants a new beginning even if it does cause him pain in the beginning. after the initial pain, he forgives himself for his past.

It doesn't matter exactly what it's about.
The theme is MOVING ON and FORGIVING yourself, letting go of the past.
In life, when you don't let go of the harm you may have done, the guilt stays inside of you, and you'll keep doing harm.
This is about mercy, and the moment you feel ripe to let go and forgive yourself.
Feeling you're good enough to forgive yourself.
It's a very emotional and I'd like to say spiritual song.

Uk Boy: The end of the earth is before us, like never before! This song is a brilliant realization and musical interpretation of this in hindsight. Probs the best sum up of this, these guys are modern day Shakespeares. Whatever your opinion is, this is a fact..this song is look what we've done, all of us, but let it go, this is our reality, now we must face it and how have come to this situation...

Okay this may sound crazy but since minutes to midnight was the album they wrote after getting back together, I think they are reflecting on the reasons why they broke up and regretting them,
"What I've done".
Thats what I've heard anyway. The guy who says it's about doomsday by the way read the second line
"THERE'S NO BLOOD".

This song is about starting over. a clean slate. not about the world ending.

This song is about the human race (us) destroying the world and everything we take for granted. When paired with the video, the whole part of "forgiving" and "let mercy come" seems sarcastic. Like how can we even deserve forgiveness.

I think this song is this Linkin Park is singing this song representing the whole world and what we have done wrong to make it the way it is. If you have ever seen the music video, they show all of the bad things and the wrongs people are doing.

It's probably about a witness who knew the truth but didn't instead told a lie.
