An amazing song. My boyfriend and my favorite, it's our song.

To me this song is a couple that has an unstable relationship, it has it's up and downs. He is madly in love with her and believes that nobody loves her the way he does. "backbeat the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out" word is going around, and he believes, that her love for him is weakening. He has trouble explaining how much she means to him, but he's so in love with her. Being with her makes everything alright to him, she's there to catch him when he falls, she's his wonderwall. "and all the roads we have to walk are winding, and all the lights that light the way are blinding" as long as they are together, there will be problems, the road in life they will walk will be hard. There will be good times and bad, but throughout it all he will love her.

This song, though a beautiful love song, has nothing to do with love at all. He has been quoted saying it's about the idea of having an imaginary friend (or in essence yourself) save you from yourself.

A wonderwall is your reflection on someone..like if your looking at someone and start to notice all the details about them, there your wonderwall, you feel Completely comfortable with them and totally head over heels for them

The song is about someone falling in love with a married woman. It's about the fact, that even though it's not what either of them expect, they love each other, and that's all that matters. They've found each other, in a crazy situation.

I just heard this song this year, and I thought that it had to do with self-actualization. I guess it's just because what's going on in my life right now, but I take the song to be about a person whose changing into someone else. They don't know if they want to change, but at the same time they don't want to stop changing into the person they could be because becoming that person could be the only thing that saves them from themselves. I know that makes no sense, but it make sense in my head. Of course, you can also apply it to a love song, or just a song about a really good friend that keeps you going. That's why this song is amazing.

As a few people have already mentioned, Noel Gallagher claims the song is about an imaginary friend.

Well, to me, this is what I got out of the song:
There is someone he cares deeply for, whether it be a woman or a friend, and that he doesn't care what happens or how bad things get, that they will always be there for each other.
Like, keeping faith in someone when everyone else has lost hope.
But that is just my take on it, there are so many different point of views to be taken.

I heard that Noel claims that this song itīs about an imaginary friend, but in 2000 the same Noel said that nobody knows what is wonderwall, even him...Strange I know but it was on a MTV Special about the best one hundred songs of the century, I think that makes this song so special is that you can be touched by her in many meanings and you can apply her on many situations that happen to you everyday with friends, girlfrieds or boyfriends.

According to Noel on the Stop the Clocks DVD it is a love song he wrote. But I think everyone takes a different view. Some use it as a love song, some about depression and saving yourself.
This was one of my best friend's funeral song, she was only 17 and it is her favourite song. I still think of it as a love song, but in a different sense, not a lover but for a friend that will always be there as my own leaning post - my wonderwall - even if she has gone.

I dunno, that's just how I look at it.

"Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you. By now you should've somehow realized what you gotta do."

To me it's always meant that everyone was somehow relying on the person, who ended up letting everyone down (perhaps more than once.)

"I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now."
Everyone lost faith in the person except the singer who still loves them even after all their mistakes.

"Because maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me.
And after all, you're my wonderwall."
He still has faith in the person and they're his everything and one day may save him from his own problems.

Oh I'm sure this song has many different meanings to everyone who hears it. Of course the true meaning is only known by the writer of any song. But to me.. This song means a lot to my boyfriend and I, whom of which is serving a term in Iraq. I guess you can definitely say it's a Love Song.

Oasis is about an imaginary friend who saves you from yourself.

or a hole through the wall, to stare at the neighbor.

To me, wonderwall is referring to a person. Possibly a loved one, maybe a lover.
To me this song is referring to a lover, a girl, that will always be surprising him, like a hill he will always climb but never will be able to go to the top, like a person that will keep surprising him and never bore him.
i know that this sounds stupid but that's the way I've interpreted it in my head.
like an amazing love song, devoted to a person that is compared to a wonderwall.
