Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge Song MeaningsLyrics:Sometimes I feel Like I dont have a partner Sometimes I feel Like my only friend Is the city I live in The city of angel Lonel... (See the rest of these lyrics) Submitted by: SpikeRulesHell Added: 2006-02-14 22:01:37   Rating: ![]() ![]() The meaning of this song is fairly obvious. He's been alone (mentally) all his life and he looks to his city-Los Angeles-for comfort. In the end, I guess he gets really high and dies. Great church choir there lol.
Submitted by: pikey This song is about drug use. Under the bridge refers to a bridge where anthony keidis would go and shoot up with gangbangers. In his book scar tissue he also talks about the song and it is also about l.a and how no matter what it was his city
Submitted by: anonymous I realise I am in the wrong song but can someone in the face of this planet tell what the meaning of "mellowship slinky in b-major"is.
Submitted by: anonymous Under the Bridge is about Anthony's addiction to drugs. Plain and simple.
Submitted by: anonymous Great song and beat. Under the Bridge isn't just about drugs, though. It's also about how Anthony, while taking drugs, and maybe other times as well, sometimes feels he doesn't have anybody to turn to but Los Angeles (the City of Angels), the city that is extremely near and dear to him. And when he needs to let his feeling out and cry a little bit, he finds relief in knowing even though it may seem he has no one to be with, the city he lives in will always give him comfort.
Submitted by: jungleman This song is about Anthony Kiedis fighting his drug addiction and staying clean.
Submitted by: anonymous Under the Bridge is a place where he used herion but mainly the song is about your freedom from pain his just happened to be shooting up herion under the bridge downtown.
Submitted by: anonymous Under the bridge is about not wanting to go back to a place in your life when everything was low and things were going wrong. It's on the greatest hits dvd.
Submitted by: anonymous I have read anthonys autobiography and this song is about him staying clean for months then stuffing it up when he went under the bridge and got high. He wrote this song while being high and then showed it to his producer the next day. They put a beat with it and came out with this song
Submitted by: anonymous Did you know that it was John f's mother singing all the churchy stuff at the end? She used to be a music eacher and antony asked her to lend them her voice for the song.
Submitted by: suburban13 I think that in this song Anthony was thinking about Slovak and how much he misses him. And how alone he felt after his death. Hence " I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day". And he felt alone... And he felt like the only thing he had was l.A. At the end of the song he gets high under the bridge in an attempt to forget about all the pain he was going through.
Submitted by: anonymous I guess anthony himself put to rest all our interpretations of this song in his autobiography, "scar tissue." in the book he says that after he got clean for the first time, a lot of things changed in the band dynamic. He began to feel like a bit of an outsider, especially when the others were doing drugs. One day John and flea were smoking pot in the studio, and he looked into john's eyes and he knew he had lost him as a friend. On the bus back to his apartment, he began humming and wrote a few lyrics to suit his mood, "I don't ever want to feel/like I did that day" he shows the comfort his home city (la "the city of angels") gave him in the line, "at least I have her now/the city she loves me"
Submitted by: anonymous It about Anthony when he was wiht his girlfriend Carmen...A friend told him that there was a place under the bridge in la where the cops never went and he spent most of his time laying under that bridge on dirty mattresses taking drugs then one day he realized he had a girlfriend and I was time to get back to reality and on the way home on the bus he felt he had a connection wiht the hills of la
Submitted by: mz.Kiedis Anthony started singing this tune while driving after an argument with john. Anthony was reluctant to sing it and show producer rick rubin, and it almost didn't make the album. Under the bridge is where he was taken by a mexican drug dealer who would serve him when they went to the drug den but it was only for freinds and relatives, so he pretended to be the guy's future brother-in-law in order to be able to get high. The song is based on drugs, and the city, 'city of angels' is an obvious reference to los angeles.
Submitted by: Jen Anthony Kiedis, lead singer of this band, struggled with ehroin addiction (he's been sober since the late Nineties.) He wrote this song about his heroin addiction. The lyrics came from journal entries.
Submitted by: anonymous it's true John's mum Gail and her friends sang at the end of under the bridge (wikipedia if you don't believe me...)
Submitted by: anonymous This song is about his addiction to heroin. When he says "She" it is refering to heroin and when he talks about the city it is about his mental state. One of my friends told me it was about drugs so I listened to it again and that's what I think
Submitted by: anonymous I think most of the rhcp songs are related to drug addiction, and you can always link them with drugs, but I always try to look further. The song is about 'his place'. Whenever he feels troubled or confused ('I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day') he goes to his beloved City of Angels ('take me to the place I love, take me all the way') where he thinks all trouble will be solved. Very Simple
Submitted by: anonymous ok this one is from the book..
Submitted by: anonymous Clearly about anthony kiedes' drug addiction. "Under the bridge downtown is where I drew some blood" " Under the bridge downtown I could not get enough" "Under the bridge downtown I gave my life away". Hes talking about all the pain he felt when using heroin and everything he lost
