Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dosed Song Meanings

I got dosed by you and
Closer than most to you and
What am I supposed to do
Take it away I never had it anyway
Take it away and everyt...

This song is about the death of his best friend that used to be in the band when it first got together. He died of a drug overdose and Anthony swore he would never touch drugs again but in the end he actually couldn't-

'can I be your gasoline
could I be your wolverine
ON THE DAY MY BEST FRIEND DIED I COULD NOT GET MY COPPER CLEAN!'

God man! You both have it wrong! Its:

can I get some vasaline
step into a modern scene

and then later on in the song:

can I smell your gasoline
can I pet your wolverine!

Some people! God. It's about hillel dying and drugs.

This song is so sad. Um one point, why does anthony refer to hillel as a girl? is he gay or is it just you no best friend kinda thing? Also you no the bit about 'climb onto your seahorse', I think that's about surfing - not sure though.

I think there is a lot of confusion going on here. "This is the Place" is the song where he says "Can I get some vaseline/Step into a modern scene." "Dosed" is where Anthony sings "I got dosed by you/closer than most to you..." The former seems to be the Hillel song with its drug references but Dosed seems to be about love lost.

It's about a girl he used to know that died and he loved her but never got a chance to tell her and that's why he says "take it away I never had it anyway" and he means take away your love I never had it anyway meaning her love for him. remember "way up on the mountain were she died all I ever wanted was your life" because he wanted her to live so he could tell her that he loved her. Maybe that girl didn't actually die she just died in his head.

Thank god for that last submission...has no one ever read scar tissue? look people, I love the chili peppers I've meet keidis and flea and in no way shape or form is the song about hillel. The song is about a girl he met that dies of a drug overdose (I think) that he fell madly in love with (his first) and never had the chance to say it. READ THE BOOK

Guys, it`s about a lover he had that got pregnant but his lover was married so she had an abortion.
Let me explain:
"In you a star is born someone forever warm" - a child, no?
"Climb on your seahorse this ride is right on course" - OK, what do we no about seahorses? They mate for life with there partners. The lover goes back with here lover and doesn't change here course.

From the rest of the lyrics it's easy to see that they are lovers and it's only logical that "take it away I never had it anyway" refers to an abortion.
