Red Hot Chili Peppers - Venice Queen Song MeaningsLyrics:Does it go from east to west Body free and a body less Come again just to start a fresh Once again to find a home In the moment of... (See the rest of these lyrics) Submitted by: anonymous Added: 2006-12-10 14:07:38   Rating: ![]() ![]() The interpretation for this song is in Anthony Kiedis Bio Scar Tissue. Its about a friend of his who has cance(I think, its either that or some other fatal diease) called Gloria. AK and the other red hot chili pepper people buy her a house by the sea so she can get better, but she dies anyway. Thats why there's the G.L.O.R.I.A bits and'I see you standing by the see
Submitted by: anonymous Wow!! I haven't read Anthony's Bio although I consider myself as a fan... That's a very sad story...
Submitted by: anonymous Most of what you said was correct, and it is in the book "Scar Tissue". Gloria was a wise lady who he went to see for counselling. She had a poster on the wall of Neil Young. When she died of cancer, AK called Neil Young to come and play a tribute concert, to which he said "no problem". And I think, they played the tribute concert. Brilliant Song (By the Way, Jimmy)
Submitted by: anonymous It also says in Scar Tissue that he first met Gloria in one of countless Rehab groups that he attended before finally becoming clean. She was a big inspiration to him, supporting him despite his relapsing into addiction again and again. He recalled she always sent him postcards, never was mad at him if he did do bad things, and she in fact had a post of the RHCP on her wall as well as Niel Young. That was touching to Anthony to be placed on the wall with him.
Submitted by: anonymous Yea your all correct is about a rehab counselor and long time friend of AK who had a disease and died in her seaside home in Venice (hence venive queen) which the band bought.
Submitted by: anonymous My interpretation of Venice Queen, is Anthony's battle with heroin. In the beginning he talks about how the drug makes him feel, "Body free and a body less" an how addicting it is, "Hard to leave when it's picturesque." In the last verse of the first part he talks about a recommendation for rehabilitation and how hard it is, “Take a chance on a recommend, Hard as hell just to comprehend."
