The Nobodies Lyrics

Today I am dirty
I want to be pretty
Tomorrow, I know I'm just dead

Today I am dirty

We are the nobodies
We wanna be Somebodies
We're dead,
We know just who we are

We are the...

In one of his interviews MM says that the media gave the shooters exactly what they wanted, attention, which they received with countless hours of news footage. He objected to this, as it sends a message that becoming a self proclaimed martyr deserves this type of attention. Check it out. I do not think he would write a song about them, as this would only contradict his beliefs.

Its about the shooting at columbine high school.

It can also mean that someone was a loser, "nobody" at their school, wanting to be noticed.

I think that when he says "We are the nobodies" he's putting in the place of the two teens who shoot at Columbine, that want to be somebodys, "when were dead, they just know we are" refers to when they commit suicide, all america know them now. "Some children died the other day..." is what media was saying, and that they were the ones who won more.

it's about the shooting at columbine.

seriously though, why the hell are people still sad about this?

for Christ sakes, it was in 1999, 15 years ago, move on.

it's not like it's a huge tragedy like the Titanic or September 11th or something, columbine doesn't even come close to those two.

it's America, you have shootings everyday, still your still sad.

    wow.

they died and we lived, GET OVER IT!!!!!!

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

You are wrong this song was made before the shooting at columbine, then the media blamed MM for it because of the lyrics to the nobodies

Call me crazy, but I think this song may be about drug addiction. The nobodies (druggies) wanna be somebodies (sober). The bridge is about Columbine, for sure, but this discussion can go miles, lightyears even, and no one is right or wrong.

To me this song refers to people that have no goal in life feeling they have no purpose or referring to people that kill other people for revenge (columbine shootings) This is what the song means to me.

I think he wrote this song for all the Nobodies, The Columbine kids included. He wrote it for anyone that feels like a "Nobody" myself included
