Concrete Angel Lyrics

She walks to school with a lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holding back;
Wearing the same dress she wore yesterday.
She hides the bruises with the linen and lace,oh

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask,
It's hard to see the...

This song is about my neice you are all right. It was very sad for me to lose her but she was abused (not raped) and her mother (my sister) did abuse her and yes she passed on. She did not get close to anybody not even me. I did not know why. But now I do. She was such a sweet little thing. I really did want people to know what happend and raise awareness. Please, if your apart in child abuse tell someone you will be fine. The person who abuses you will get in trouble and if they just get out of jail and restart abusing you tell someone again.

    Your Friend,
    MM

I think that everyone is right about this song meaning. Abuse is a serious thing and it breaks my heart to hear that martina lost a niece to it. It sucks i was in that situation, but was removed from it. I have often wondered what would have happened if i wouldn't have been removed but this music video told me. I wish there was more that we as people could do to save children from abuse. I love this song and cry every time i hear it.

I love this song because it relates to me,but I was saved from the situation. I have God in my life now and I know I'm not alone. This little girl's parents mistreated her and left her to stand on her own to go off to school and dress herself. She hides the bruises "scars on the inside." She wants to be saved from the pain, but is afraid her is going to hurt her more or afraid she won't be believed. This little girl is strong "concrete angel," she withstands anything thrown in her path. The boy that befriends her is her distraction from the abuse, he is also her only friend how understands her need for friends and family. when she cries in the middle of the night, the neighbors hear her but turn out the lights and pretend the don't know what is going on in her house. By morning it's too late because her life was taken from her. Her grave stone is hidden under a shaded spot with an upturned angel. A broken heart that the world forgot, her cries weren't answered by God

It's about a little girl whose mother neglects and abuses her. There is no father in the video, so all she has is her mother. It seems that the child doesn't have any friends. She is all alone and probably because her mother isolates her, as so often happens when children are victims of abuse... It's a secret and parents don't let others get close enough to find out what's going on.

Her mother neglects her so much that the child has to make her own lunch, dress herself, and send herself off to school. No mother there to give her a kiss and send her off.(She sees another child and her mom does this.) She knows that her life is not normal, not the way it is supposed to be, but she is trapped because that is the life card that she has been dealt, out of no fault of her own.

She can't tell anyone, but hopes that somoene will notice.... In school she is wearing short sleeves, if she was hiding the abuse, she would have worn long sleeves. She wants help. She imagines someone saving her, but she can't reveal it openly because she thinks she will get in big trouble by her mother. She has to be strong to keep up the facade that nothing is wrong, but she knows that it is not the way a mother is supposed to treat her child. She is strong like concrete, holding it all inside, yet she is innocent like an angel, she does not deserve this, and she hopes someone will save her.

With children who are abused, they form an outer shell, the shell hides their pain, they wish they could break out of the shell and be free... free from the abuse but also free from the stress they go through of hiding their pain and all the energy they use to hold it all inside because of fear.

There are always signs. Little things. The teacher sees bruises but does nothing. She feels sad for the girl, but like many teachers (and family members and friends), they turn away, they don't get involved. The neighbors hear screams, but turn out the lights and go to bed, pretending they didn't hear what they did and pretending that they don't know what's going on. Some people, like some teachers, feel that they will get in trouble for accusing someone of abuse and worry about that more than attempting to save a child before it's too late.

A Heart That The World Forgot? No one helped her. She was alone. She had to be strong by herself. Innocent like an angel, but strong as concrete on the outside so that she could survive, it was her only way of surviving. She does not tell... everything inside her wants to have a normal family, a loving mother, but she change get help. She can't change her situation. Sometimes little things happen that help her for a second forget about her abuse, like the little boy that befriends her. She escapes through fantasy and she's only safe when she escapes through death because in life no one helps her. The video assumes that she goes to heaven and finally has that carefree happy-go-lucky innocent kind of life, that a child should have.

As for the ending... I agree with what Ducky wrote on here also. His/her comment is July 26,2008, 10:54am.

well the little girl is abused by her mom but she never tells anybody. She cries for help one time but no one comes. She gets a friend and they live next to each other and they talk from the windows, but the little girl's mom comes and starts beating her for no reason. The boy sits there and watches so I think at the end he is an angel. Some Do. It's too late at the end and all the people have to remember her by is a staue of an angel. The good thing is that the boy brings the little girl to where she is loved like she wanted. At the end it says stop CHILD ABUSE! And We Should.

This song is so sad. i could listen to it ovre and over again. To me this song is about a little girl whos father is not there. Her mother Dosent care about her. She just wants someone to love her and to care for her. But she is scared to let anyone else in. In the video there is a little boy. (but really he is an angle). That is the only friend in the world that she has. In my opion the mama needs to be put in a big padded room with a straight jacket..But thats only my opion.

This song is about child abuse and the boy who befriends her in the beginning of this song is an angel who was a child abuse victim. At the end of the song, when the little girl dies there are only a few people at her funeral, including her 'angel'. when she also appears as an angel the both go and hang out with all of the other children, who are also all victims of child abuse.

    Love,
    Ducky

I absolutely love this song. It's about abuse of the little girl. She has several marks on her body and she covers them with long sleeves. Teachers I think now and days don't want to get involved in family problems. But this little girl is lonely and crying out for help but it never comes. In the end, she dies and goes up to heaven the place she belongs. No worries and no fear.

Okay so everyone is doing this so I think that I'll give it a try.I think that this song is about a little girl who is neglected by her parents and is abused by them and one night she cries but the neighbors don't care they just turn out the lights.

But then one day she dies from all the hurt and anger built up inside and all that is remembered of her is a polished rock.If any of you want to here this song just go on the Internet I'm sure you'll find it and if you don't well keep searching I'm sure you'll find something.Thank you for reading this.

A little girl is getting abused by her parents. People suspect it but do nothing for her. She comes to school with bruises, and her neighbors hear her crying and screaming at night. It is then that she dies, that she is finally free from the abuse, from the pain and suffering, and the concrete angel is her grave marker. Concrete angel also symbolizes her. She is tough and able to withstand all the abuse and pain because she's made of stone, she's indestructible, even after death she is strong.
