   I once asked my mother this question and she told me that it was about a girl who fell in love with the wrong person and he broke her heart. When she went to confined in the comfort of her mom, she was told that it wasn't a big deal and there was no real reason to be so upset. Her mother told her that she is better than this and that she is a lady. The part when it says "start acting like a lady" I interpret it as the mother is saying you're a lady and can make it through anything. I personally think the mother was trying to make her daughter see it that way. She wasn't trying to say get over it, but more like you will get through it so there is no meaning behaving like this.

   I think it's about a girl who was deep in love with the guy and drank her pain away . She asked her mom and she didn't care and said " get over him and act like a lady " and she wasn't her daughter so she didn't know she handles it differently

   I think this is about a woman who's going crazy over a break up. But her mom is basically telling her it's no big deal and she needs to suck it up and start 'acting like a lady'. What her mom doesn't get is that her broken heart isn't the same and it doesn't seem like her mom really gives a damn, so long as the family doesn't look bad. People heal differently and Mama needs to understand that she can't just let something this big go. Just my own personal interpretation
