Ok here's what I think: Champagne Supernova is a song about a relationship that has fallen apart, but the singer believes could still last forever.

"Where were you while we were getting high?" This line probably has less to do with actually getting high, but more of a representation of the things they used to do together that the girl is no longer doing with him.

"Slowly walking down the hall faster than a cannonball." It possibly means that when he sees her, although she is walking slowly, it feels to him like she is walking faster than a cannonball. Leading one to believe that he still cares for her, while she just passes him by.

"Someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernova in the sky." At this point he is saying that someday she will find him a complete wreck without her ("caught beneath a landslide"). The champagne supernova probably comes from the amount of alcohol and drugs that he does to ease the pain of his loss.

"We Don't believe that they're gonna get away from the summer. But you and I will never die. The world's still spinning around, we don't know why." I think that the summer is supposed to represent the end/death of something, in this case a relationship. He goes on to say that theirs will never die. Although their relationship is hurting, he believes that it will never actually die. He doesn't know how he knows this, but he's sure of it.(hence "The world's still spinning around we don't know why").

That's just what I think. It's probably totally wrong, but whatever.

It's a weird one alright. It's probably one of those songs that can mean anything you want it to. But whenever I listen to that song I can't help but think it's a bit deeper. As a child Noel was often ill-treated by his father... I reckon it could be about his dad, and he's probably trying to hide it. "Where were you while we were getting high?" could mean while him and liam were growing up. The "Some day you will find me caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernova in the sky" is like a big metaphor. Noel was pretty immortal at this time in his career, and I think was saying that his dad didn't have a chance to "find" him, now he was so rich and famous.

Thanks to Wikipedia and my need to interpret everything combined with boredom.
Sorry its very long.

" This writer, he was going on about the lyrics to "Champagne Supernova", and he actually said to me: ‘You know, the one thing that’s stopping it being a classic is the ridiculous lyrics.’ And I went: ‘What do you mean by that?’ And he said: ‘Well, Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball — what’s that mean?’ And I went: ‘I don’t fucking know. But are you telling me, when you’ve got 60,000 people singing it, they don’t know what it means? It means something different to every one of them.’ "

So even though he meant nothing by it here is how I interpret it.

"How many special people change"

Special people (people we care about friends.)

"How many lives are living strange"

Living strange (possible not knowing the special people anymore living separate lives. Strangers.)

"Where were you when we were getting high?"

Getting high together being a social activity. Someone or people are missing from the socializing. "living strange"

"Slowly walking down the hall"

Slowly:
1. Lacking in promptness or willingness; not precipitate
2. Lacking liveliness or interest; boring
So walking through the hall with no interest to the people around.

"Faster than a cannon ball"

Could be the person just going quickly trying to avoid be anti social. Cannonballs are hard and cold objects perhaps reflecting the persons interference with society.

"Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky"

Landslide:
1.
a. The downward sliding of a relatively dry mass of earth and rock.
b. The mass that slides. Also called landslip.
office.
2. A great victory.

Champagne Supernova:
1. A martini glass full of champagne with cocaine on the rim, as salt would be on a Margarita. Very popular in the late 1980's an -90's.
2. when you are drunk and high at the same time.
3. A place of ecstasy you experience when feeling the effects of a drug (especially cocaine)
4. a place where you can go when you are high.
5. when you shoot the cork out of a champagne bottle and spray it everywhere.

Supernova:
A massive star that undergoes a sudden, extreme increase in brightness across the electromagnetic spectrum, followed by a more gradual decrease lasting from several days to several months.

Possible interpretations:

1. He got struck with an extreme change.
2. He has gotten completely addicted to drugs in a never ending high.
Leaning towards 2 as the stronger one.

"Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies"
dawn:
1. To begin to become light in the morning.
2. To begin to appear or develop; emerge.
3. To begin to be perceived or understood.
(something that is inevitable there will always be a dawn, dawn might be a wise thing cause it has always been as far as we know. It has seen a lot.)

Impatiently wanting to know, or really badly wanting to understand.

"A dreamer dreams she never dies"
she being dawn
Dreamer wanting the dawn to always come the world to never end. The sun to always come again.

"Wipe that tear away now from your eye"
Not wanting who ever to be sad about how things are. Wanting them to see clearly.

So…
Could be a person losing touch with everyone and reality to his high and wanting people to except that is just how life is.
