But I think that's about a girl and a boy.
The first chorus (my hand, your hand tight up like two ships ...) means that they are together but they're not sure about their relationship because there are so many problems (waves try to brake it). The boy knows definitely that he loves her but she doesn't, so he wants to save it, so it can getting serious.
The two are so close but also so far away (pages between us written with no ends).

its def not a girl! louis wrote this song for harry. louis' saying that hes sorry for needing harry since its apparently wrong in some people's eyes but he doesn't care because hes not afraid of loving harry, even if it does mean being gay. he can be strong for HIM. his love for harry cant stop nor feeling weak when he is not with him, so whats so wrong about that? why is it so wrong to others? that hes in love with harry. that harry makes him strong.

"I don't care I'm not scared of love," means they are ready to face whatever the fans or the hate or the management brings to them. Why would anyone even be scard of love anyway? "When I'm not with you I'm weaker. Is that so wrong? Is it so wrong that you make me strong?" means they do not see anything wrong with them loving each other. There's nothing wrong with being gay, so why can't they be gay openly, without hiding it behind a publicity stunt every year and a fake girlfriend of two years. Why is it so wrong to be in love? This song is about Louis' and Harry's relationship.

If this was really about a boy/girl relationship, why would the lyrics say, "is that so wrong? Is it so wrong?"
Have you ever heard anyone saying that a hetrosexual relationship was wrong? No, because that's what we are all brought up to think is normal. So, loads of people think that being gay is disgusting, which could be why they ask if it's really wrong. They say "is it so wrong, that you make me strong". Is it wrong that it's a boy who makes him strong, just because he's a boy himself? The person behind this lyrics ask if it's wrong that it's a boy he loves, and who makes him strong.
Also, why would the lyrics go "I'm sorry if i say i need you". Why would anyone be sorry to say that they needed their loved one? That's a bit odd, don't you agree? I think it could be either Harry or Louis excusing to their management, and other people who think their relationship is wrong, and he says that he's sorry, but "i'm not scared of love", he's ready to commit, and he's not afraid of the consequenses.
This is just my thoughts on these lyrics, i'm not forcing anything on you. -
the song is about falling in love with someone special. there's no need to argue wether it's about louis and harry or louis and his girlfriend dammit.

It is not about them being gay. For one harry styles wouldn't have dated girls and louis wouldn't be dating elenour he's talking about a girl that he needs because she makes him strong and the lyrics say 'I'm sorry if I say I need you but I don't care I'm not scared of love' meaning he's not scared to say to her that he needs her with him because she makes him strong and I get the feeling that the girl is scared of love though....

One Direction's "Strong" is about Harry loving Louis, or Louis loving Harry. I believe this because the song states "is that so wrong, is it so wrong, that you make me strong." The part about the love being so wrong implies the gay relationship between Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. AKA: Larry Stylinson.
