Panic! At The Disco: Camisado Meaning

Album cover for Camisado album cover

Camisado Lyrics

The I.V. and your hospital bed
This was no accident
This was a therapeutic chain of events

This is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor
This is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospital
It's not so pleasant
And it's not so...

I thought this was about cancer...

    hmmmm...
it would make sense, you fight it off when you have it...
    ICU....
    maybe?!

    drinking?!
    idk-

cancer sounds more appropriate for this song...

Well I don't know how this song has to do with asylums...no offense I just don't understand. I thought it was about a kid who got in a fight because I guess I just wasnt looking too deep into it but I thought it was about a kid who got in a really bad fight and got into the ICU and all this stuff. I don't really know...

There's a line in this song that goes "You've earned a place atop the ICU's hall of fame". The ICU is the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital, so I think that his dad has been in the ICU so many times that he's "earned a place". A Camisado is also a late-night surprise attack.

This one I'm a little bit sketchy on seeing as how it could be many things, but this idea just sticks out in my mind (im either watching to many movies about this type of thing, most of the time ending in murder ^.^) but I think that it's talking about the old asylums from the early days of civilized America where all the diseases that had to be cured had asylums for the victims where they did some pretty weird shit to find the cure, basically talking about the horrible life they lived in said asylums and about people trying to fight back while being wheeled to their deaths as stated in the chorus:

"This is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor/This is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospital/It's not so pleasant/And it's not so conventional/It sure as hell ain't normal/But we deal, we deal" again I'm probably not right...

I bet you got that from Rolling Stone.

Yeah, that pretty much covers it all. His dad was going through the long battle alcoholism.

This song is about Ryan's dad's battle with alcoholism.
