Ready to Go (Get Me Out of My Mind) Lyrics

Oh uoohhhhhhh [x4]

You got these little things that you've been running from
You either love it or I guess you don't
You're such a pretty thing to be running from anyone a vision with nowhere to go
So tell me right now ya think you're ready...

Brendon claimed in a DVD that they felt the title was appropriate and was chosen because it was the last one they recorded and they were eager and finally ready to go - ready to tour and show the fans and the world their new music. Get me out of my mind is almost saying get me out of these thoughts that I've been stuck with while writing this record - they've been in the studio for so long they feel trapped in their own thoughts and just want to escape back into the real world.

It is not at all about suicide....
In an interview I saw a while ago, Brendon mentions how it is about Ryan an Jon leaving the band and how despite the loss, they continued on with their music. Although it was hard on him and Spencer at first, they moved on.

    You've got these little things
    That you've been running from

At first I think its about a girl she has small issues that she thinks is a Huge problem but really it's not

You either love them or guess you don't
You're such a pretty thing to be running from anyone
A vision with nowhere to go

Then I hear this no think no she's running from two guys That like her,and she's too pretty to be running from them Angels are beautiful and so if u happen to see one it'll seem like a vision therefore she's a vision and has nowhere to go

So tell me right now you think you're ready for it ?
I wanna know , why you got me going so let's go you think your Ready for it

She wants to escape the two suitors and run off somewhere

I really believe interpretations can go so many ways. they way I look at this song goes like this -

the lines throughout the song contradict eachother, so I believe that after the song trade mistakes(the idea that the woman was going to commit suicide after her lovers death), it travels into this one.
I think the girl is still having a battle within herself,
"I think I'm ready I'm to leave," shows us she's ready to finally ends things,
    and
"I'm ready to live," says she now has gotten over things, and wants to start her new life.

also, "I'm ready to go," can go both either way towards death and happiness. and the (Get me out of my mind) can represent her trying to get the suicidal thoughts out of her head, or her trying to stop thinking what will happen when she dies, and just to follow through the with it.

I think the song was made for people to choose their own ending for it, whether she lives or commits suicide.

I think this song is about a new step in life (I think I'm ready to leave, ready to live, I'm ready to go), especially one you have a hard time reaching. Say for instance, leaving home for college, how that's when your life begins almost.

I think it's about Brendon and a special someone are committing group suicide.

I have no idea, but I try not to think about it , so much as I enjoy the song without having to know any (dark or lack thereof )song meanings.

This means that the main character is going to be going and moving on with his life.

I think that this kind of runs on from "Trade Mistakes" which is about the dead man wanting the girl he loved to move on - I think that this is written from her point of view when she finally gets over him. "I'm ready to leap, I'm ready to live" she's stopped feeling suicidal and she's ready to live her life. However, it could also be the opposite with her being ready to kill herself: "I think I'm ready to go (get me out of my mind) " she's so distraught that she's going to commit suicide, she's too upset with her loved one dead and she wants to escape "get me out of my mind"

again, this could all be wrong...
