Regina Spektor: Eet Meaning
Song Released: 2009
Eet Lyrics
You can't believe it; you were always singing along.
It was so easy and the words so sweet.
You can't remember; you try to feel the beat.
Bee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-
Eet eet...

It probably means they lost someone or something that was dear to them...

I interpreted this song to be about someone who spent their whole life isolating themsleves from everyone and the world. The music that they know so well is the only thing that is guiding them through life. However, one day that thing disappears and they no longer no what to do since they spent their whole life alone. ("you try to move your feet")
When the person is debating to steal he hear a boy cry. I believe that the "thief" is connected to the brother because the brother stole the little boy's turn. (possibly allowed the "thief" have flashbacks to his past)
These two scenes connect because "you" don't know what to do so "you" chose to steal.
