To me, it's about finding your passion in life. The thing that makes you smile; your true love. In the video, the woman's passion is her music. No matter how bad her day is, the one thing that she loves--that makes her feel beautiful--is playing her cello.

Every loving moment in this song is experienced in a removed way. Love expressed through an answering machine message. Counting eyelashes while the other one pretends to sleep, eyes closed. The most loving moments in the relationship are not done face-to-face, fully engaged, but at a distance. But there is still the tenderest affection in those moments. The line "You always say your name/like I wouldn't know it's you" always gets me teary-eyed, because my wife does that when leaving messages as well.

I feel that the song is bittersweet -- those moments they have are special and full of love, but they are removed, even if just a little bit. For me, the saddest part about the song is the title itself, and what it means in the song. Whenever he sings "At My/Your Most Beautiful," it's at a moment when the beautiful person can't even be seen by the other. "At Your Most Beautiful" is when "you" are on the answering machine. "At My Most Beautiful" is when "your" eyes are closed and "you" can't see "me." In other words, we're at our most beautiful when we're out of sight; we're at our most beautiful in the minds of our lovers.
