Shinedown: Begin Again Meaning
Begin Again Lyrics
To seconds lost, and to starts that won't begin
To twisted eyes that see inside
Rules that always bend
A simple task, a see-through mask
That questions where and why
We shared our skin to occupy, and keep our piece of...

First off, let me just say that this song would be fantastic even if there were no words. but the fact is, the words are scrumptious as well, and together they make up one amazing piece of musical genius.
I think this song is about realizing that the life you've been living is nothing more than an empty shell filled with the norms and regulations society has placed on you. Especially Hollywood.
"Twisted eyes that see inside" is probably how self-obsessed the speaker is and how he looks at himself for every little flaw before everyone else can find it.
He talks about sharing skin with everyone, "skin" possibly being the shallow exterior fed to the press and other people. Theres also the expression regarding crawling under your skin to hide.
So maybe....
He's dying to get back inside his skin and renew his life.
"Bring only what you need to survive" is the speaker stripping all superfluous tissue from his life.
Anyway, grrrreat song
