Duality Lyrics

I push my fingers into my eyes...
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache...
What Is made of all the things I have to take...
Jesus, it never ends, it works it's way inside...
If the pain goes on...
Aaaaaaaah!

I have screamed until...

This song is about just how bad headaches can get. It even talks about how it's made of all the medicines he has to take because after he takes so much he realizes their not doing crap for him.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

    hmm u know oedipus ?
i think its possible that "i push my fingers into my eyes" refers to this greek tale

perhaps this song is about fortune. i do not think like slipknot do but perhaps they think that all what u do and will do is prearranged.

the sentence " all i have is insane" fits to this theory.

oedipus thought that he can avoid bad things he is going to do with staying out of home and perhaps everybody of us think that you can avoid bad things in ur future. BUT !! if u "realize" ,like oedipus and slipknot, that the future is determined then u cant hide and u are caught in your own doings. u are an antihero.

and why u go insane ? why u wanna hurt urself ? because u cant handle with ur disability to change things.

Its simple. Its choosing the lesser of two evils. Sticking your fingers in you eyes hurt. However, it beats the pain of a bad headache. Two dual pains. Which is worse? Bad marriage or divorce? Dead end job or unemployment? Giving up fried food or health problems? It goes on and on.

This song used to always made me think about chronic headaches but then I got cancer and started going through chemotherapy. This song, to me anyway, really does a good job of explaining the emotions of a person going through more aggressive cancer and chemo. You get the disease and then you get pumped full of drugs that drive you fucking insane and are really just slowly killing you and you have no choice, inner hell or death. In that it is sort of like a crossroads only with two very hellish paths.

i myself agree with the mental pationt phycical pain idea it sounds like he is trying to forget his past wrongs and mastaces by doing phisical harm. duality the word means 4 to forces to go basicly at war: good and evil, light and dark, fire and ice mental sadness phisical pain just creating balence. all i got is insain is talking bout how life is hard enough to drive some one insain. the other sumit sound more like it bt i like this one as well make enough sence to be conted

The song is way the hell more than just a migraine...you're retarded for thinking that. read more than the chorus.

This song is confusing, but even though this might not make sence, but this song is about having many choices in front of you, having no clue wich path to choose, take my advice many people think this song is about being emo, and stuff but its not if it was it would be something about cutting yourself ok, so this song is confusing but it has some meaning into it.

Umm... for the guy who said this was about schizophrenia, I think you're close, but not quite. I'm pretty sure the song is about multiple personality disorder, and the song title "Duality" sure seems to point in that direction.

I'm not sure what the song is about, yet it reminds me of my muscular dystrophy. How it feels to me that the pain is endless.

I saw the song as you have a pain in one place, you cause pain somewhere else to forget about the original, for say "I push my fingers into my eyes... It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache..."

I think it is about facing yourself, no matter if you like yourself our not, and dealing with your faults and problems.

OK now if you listen to the other songs in the album you can see it is both about the band breaking up and a girl {in Vermilion and Vermilion part2} Duality is a combination of both in the sense that he is breaking both relationships to keep both relationships{it does and does not make sense} He needs to leave the band to stay with his girl, but he needs to leave his girl to be able to be in the band{they are both distractions of each other} the song is about that situation of "oh shit wtf do I do now" he recaps on his decisions that lead to the present pain of his situation.
