   This song actually reminds of The Hunger Games. When " the crowds and stands went wild" is like when Pita and Katniss are first presented and are basically on fire and everyone loved them.
   "It was the end of a decade but the start of an age" is like when they won, they began something that meant nothing would be the same again.
   "The cynics were outraged screaming "this is absurd", cause for a moment a band of theives in ripped up jeans got to rule the world" is like when both of them won the Hunger Games and the critics were going crazy that 2 people won, and from the 12th District, and that it was completely insane.
   "Bring on all the pretenders one day, we will be remembered" means the fake people that don't care about the teenagers fighting to the death at all.
   "We are the kings and the queens, you traded your baseball cap for a crown and they gave us our trophies and we held them up for our town" is them winning and being rewarded and their whole District being rewarded.
   That's what it makes me think of. Anyone else agree?

   The song is about and dedicated to her band members and thanking them for everything and how glad she is she has got to spend these moments with them.
   
   "We were the kings and the queens and they read off our name" all the countless awards they have won together. "You traded your baseball cap for a crown" I think she is trying to show how normal they are just like you and me but here they are living out a dream. "How we stood there on the sidelines wishing for right now" They waited and tried so hard for this moments and they are finally here. "When they gave us our trophies and we held them up for our town" I think she is referring to when they won the award and stood infront of everyone, infront of all hers peers. " And the cynics were outraged" refferring to the fact that people judged them as not everyone will like country music, " cause for a moment a band of theives in ripped up jeans got to rule the world" it was the biggiest award of the night and they won, reffering again to how normal they are how they feel " band of theieves in ripped up jeans"
   
   My favourite part; " Can you take a moment? Please promise me this, that you'll stand by me forever?" She wants to stay with these people forever they feel like family, " But if god forbid fate should step in?" They fall out, they go off and get new jobs or get married and settle down."If you have children someday when they point to the pictures, Please tell them my name" I love this part as they have spent this part of there lives together and the bands and her children will see that and she wants them to them about her, " Tell them how i hope they shine" She wants them to succeed.
   
   I think overall the song is about her amazement of how far her band has got her, it is the biggiest thank you she could of given. She is eternally grateful and wants to know these forever. She wants to be rememembered for their work and wants to be friends with them always.

It's about how grateful she is about everything that has happened to her life so far, about the challenges, about how she'll never give up. It's a song for everyone who supports her; the love and thanks she feels. About how she'll never forget us. To me, I think of Harry Potter!

   I like the idea that the song has a deeper meaning. I believe it is about her generation, including her fans and supporters (and her band of course)She talks of being at the end of a decade and how we will "rule the world". It is about feeling great about our accomplishments and how we "will be remembered" by the NEXT GENERATION!

    I think it's talking about something deeper than her band--perhaps her childhood fantasies with a friend or boyfriend of hers. I also think when it talks about fate intervening it could mean that she or the narrator might have to leave him.
    
    Either way, I love this song so much! It fits two of my characters from some stories I've written so well!
