The Best Day Lyrics

Im 5 years old, it's getting cold, i got my big coat on, i hear your laugh and look up smiling at you,i run and run, past the pumpkin patch and the tractor rides, look now,the sky is gold,i hug your legs and fall asleep on the way home

I don't...

This song is about how she's reflecting on her childhood memories to the pumpkin patch, tractor rides, playing princess, and laughing with no cares and worries. She thinks her parents have no fears and wonders why all the trees leaves change colors. During her childhood years, she's innocent and believes in magic and princesses. While she grows up her mid-teenage years, when she's had a bad day and she can come home where she feels secure in her mom or dad's arms. At least when you go back home, you'll be welcomed in loving arms filled with security. She and her parents take her into town, to get her mind off of things, and just have a good time. She doesnt know when she'll feel okay when she's away from home, but when she gets in the car with one of her family members, everything is okay when she spends time with them.

She describes her father as a good father figure, and he encourages her to be stronger mentally and emotionally. She says her brother is a good man, who God is proud of also.

She said she grew up with everything she needed, a pretty house, space to run, and that's just enough for her to be happy.

Eventually, she learns why the tree changes color, and realizes, she's not perfect and even when she was wrong, her dad or mom never was critical against her.

She's grateful for everything that her parents have done for her and giving her the opportunity to live out her dream.

It's obviously about her mum as she sings "daddy's smart and you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world", meaning that the 'you' she refers to throughout the song must be her mum. She's basically saying thank you to her mum for being there for her and giving her a wonderful childhood. However, she doesn't forget her dad ("I have an excellent father...") or her brother ("God shines on my little brother...") but I think that the song is mostly about her mum.

I think that this song means she ha sa=had a great childhood life but as she grew up friends got maen, buut her family grew stronger. her mom was a great lady and if i were taylor i would never wnat to let that mom go. she tookk her far away because people are being mean. i mean my dad would just say calm down and suck it up. taylor has been strong and brave but without her mom i think she would never be what she is to day. i mean when peole hear taylor swift they yell becaus they love her. i am a big taylor fan. and so is all my friends. i will always love you

This song is clearly about her mother, as she says "Daddy's smart, and you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world." She also specifically says "I have an excellent father" at one point, which is kind of saying, I love you too, even if this song is about Mom.

I think this goes along with Taylor's song "never grow up". It refers to how simple things are when we're little kids, and how when we grow up we will miss that guarded protection that our parents (hopefully) provided. Basically, I think she's thanking her parents for being so loving in raising her and just saying that if she could stay young forever she would. Personally, I think this is written more specifically for daddy, but I think she might have intentionally wrote it so that it goes either way. That way you can say it's about mom is you want, or you can say it's about daddy.

This song is about Taylor reflecting on the memories she had with her dad, and how he was a good father and he supported her, and she really misses hanging out and having fun and letting all the pain and anger out when she's with her dad.

i always thought this song was about her dad, because she meansions her dad in it more..this song could use for either parent... it prob is for her mum.. but she does talk about her whole family in it and how there for her even when she falls out with her friends.. like many of her other songs alot of people can relate to this song and can use it for either parent or both ...

This song is quite obviously about her mother. At an interveiw, Taylor was cited aying that this song is very 'personal' and how her mother was in tears on Christmas when she plugged in the tape for her to listen to. Her mother was usually around while she was recording, and she had to make sure she was nowhere nearby, in case the surprise got ruined.

I think that this song is kind of a "Mum, I love you but I love my Dad too", because it's clear from Mine in the line "You say we'll never make my parents' mistakes" that her parents didn't have a good relationship. Also, she feels like she's always in her little brother's shadow.
Just my interpretation, and what this song means to me.

I don't think this song is necessarily about Taylor's childhood. I thought of it as a reflection of a mom that has recently passed away. You always think back to the days your parents are around and all the things they ever did for you. A lot of the times home videos, like the one she mentions at the end of her song, triggers the memories.

I think the best day is about how taylor was once young and innocent and how she feels lucky because she had a big space to run and two loving parents and a little brother that she is very proud of.It also represents how taylor started out as a little girl, to a teen, to just a regualar person trying to deal with the issues that you face when you grow up. Please, I am quite young so please, no nasty comments.

Taylor is just telling her Mom and Dad that it is time to let her go and be the big girl she is. She sings about all the good times that they have had to let her parents know that she will be alright out there in the world, so she sings to them about what they have taught her.

i think this song is about her dad. when she says "a daddy's smart and you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world," i think shes quoting wat her dad said after he " set up a paint set and you're talking to me".
