Verdilac Lyrics

I'm gonna hang on your neck just like a verdilac
Take you for a ride in my cadillac
Well I tried, I tried but I can't make you understand
Baby can't you see I'm more than just a man

If you don't bring me coffee in my favourite cup
You're...

I first heard of it from the third play of the 1963 movie: Black Sabbath. The movie from which the band got their name, then formed in 1968. Even the lettering is very similar on the Paranoid album. The Verdilac is a Turkish vampire that sucks the blood of only the ones they love. The worst Verdilac in the movie dies at the beginning from a knife in the back and is discovered by another horse rider on the road. No silver bullet, or wooden stake, here. You can catch Black Sabbath from time to time on TCM which plays it during the monster series, along with Frankenstein, etc. The movie was hosted/narrated by Boris Karloff, who is himself is a campy Verdilac. It’s very cheeky humor, but the first of the three plays is downright scary, and nothing gets to me! Pretty amazing for 1963.

Interview on this site that's contains this quote:
    http://home.arcor.de/doorsquarterlyonline/robby.htm

"John told me yesterday that a "Verdilac" was a vampire. Do you agree?
Robby Yeah, you didn't know that? I guess it's an Austrian expression for vampire, from an old movie."

A verdilac is an Hungarian vampire. A spirit that sucks away your life force.
