People keep saying it's about drugs or about relationships. I think it's about both. When he says, "everytime we lie awake" it means that he's lying with his girlfriend or whoever. "after every hit we take" means they are lying together after they did drugs together, letting the effects of the drug kick in. "all the feelings that I get" means he feels all these different emotions caused by the drug. "but I haven't missed you yet" means he doesn't miss the girl, but everytime he thinks of the drugs, he suddenly wants her.
I think when he says the chorus, it means he is mad at his 'lover' because that person got him addicted to drugs, but everytime he thinks of how goods the drugs are, he forgives her, which creates a never ending vicious cycle. -

anonymous is absolutely right lol. i think it makes the most sense that its about being abused. it agrees with "every hit we take" but it also agrees with the last line "YOU hate everything about me why do YOU love me". hmm and what do u kno the only person who had a pretty good idea is also the only person who didnt call every1 effin idiots and examined every line of the song apparently.

i agree that its about drugs but i also think theres other ways to interpurt it. IT could also be a about an abusive parent where you hate everthing that there doing to you but you still love them becaus there your parent. IT could also be about a relationship when the girl is cheating or lying on the guy or vise versa and they hate everything there doing but they still love them

The song itself is a general statement meant to be used in different settings and situations... depends on who u r... look at the video u have a guy and a girl a kid and his drunk father... hell even the father and his alcohol are a symbol. Its all in how u relate it to ur own life.

It's kind of how I feel about my ex. He's an asshole. And I hate him sooo much. But I can't let go of something. I just can't. And it kills me inside. The way he kissed me. The way he wrapped his arms around me and rubbed my legs. He made me feel so much better. But he's a player. And he's done that to about 15 other girls in the past month. He makes me sick, but I just can't lat go. :( -
I think that the song is talking to an abusive parent. You hate everything about them because they abuse you, yet you love them because they are you're parent. This is also evident in there video

To me the song relates to both drug abbuse and a crappy relationship, I dont know why but when I heard "hit" in the song i thought of both taking a hit of some drug (whether its meth, weed, crack...etc) and sex (again I dont know why i guess i'm just a perv xD). Also "every sigh and scream we made" either fighting...or sex again, but it could also be sighing from a drug and screaming from a fight or a halusination that freaked them the F*** out. Tell me what you think :)

obviously, it's not about drugs. They sing, "You hate everything all about me. Why do you love me?" How can drugs love and hate someone? They are inanimate! Or "by every sigh and scream we make." No, this is obviously about a sexual relationship.

I think the narrator is talking about how he has sort of a grudge on someone and has every reason to be angry with them. the lines "after every hit we take" and "every sigh and scream we make" are describing the arguements that he had with that person. then when he starts thinking about it, he feels he really dislikes the person, but still cares about them in a love-hate relationship kind of way

well it says every hit we take.. hit as in a hit of some kind drug...no one goes into a relation ship hating it and then going back..so its obv about the drugs that he hates but the addiction keeps him going back to them...and hit of somthing makes it even more obv thats it some kind of drug thing..

If you listen carefully to the lyrics, everything can be directly related to the anger and mild hatred of teenagers toward their parents through unfairness and common disputes between the two.
