This song seems to be about the desire for recognition. Dr. Worm is his stage name but it's who he feels he really is. He likes the drums and is beginning to have confidence in his abilities. Specifically in the song he's telling one person about his hobby and how he loves it. He wants to be known by his stage name but he doesn't seem to be good enough for that.

I think this song is about nothing more than a drummer learning to play his instrument. I remember when I was learning to play the drums I would often have to leave the front door open for when the rest of my band would show up because I couldn't hear the doorbell.
