U2: Kite Meaning
Kite Lyrics
I can feel it coming

It's about how much harder it is to get through life if you don't have anyone to look out for you, i.e. a friend.

It's about letting go someone. It's something we can not control but have to accept it.
Maybe your dad, mom, lover, children, friend.'
"where the wind will take you"... It's life... you never know its turns.. -
The song is about Bono's kids and how he's watched them grow up. It's also about letting them go and live their own life ("I know that this is not goodbye"). He doesn't know where they will end up but he hopes for the best and knows he will see them again.
I also heard that Bono had written it about a day when he and his kids were trying to fly a kite but they couldn't. The kids then sarcastically said, "Wow, Dad, that was great, can we go play some video games now?"
And lastly, I heard that Bono said on a recent tour that he originally wrote it to his kids but later realized it was a song from HIS Dad, Bob Hewson, to him.
