Hospital for Souls Lyrics

And then I found out how hard it is to really change. Even Hell can get comfy once you've settled in. I just wanted the numb inside me to leave. No matter how fucked you get, there's always Hell when you come back down. The funny thing is, all I...

For me personally I think this song is about expressing the pain and suffering on a small scale of what JESUS must've been through the stages of the cross, before actually being crucified and tormented by demons for three days in Hell before ascending to Heaven. I know this is far-fetched, way out there to relate with of what OLIVER SYKES did and might have endured realistically locked up in the Rehab Sanitarium. When somebody was willing or anybody ''committed'' to the ''Hospital For Souls'' to express and be honest with oneself in this song, which to me is about the human psychological suffering influenced by our sins and how it felt being locked up behind the Red Doors of a Mental Hospital strapped in a straight jacket, tranquilized like a animal with anti-psychotic drugs like Haldol and Conjentin for the side kick's side affects. Having the addiction of alcohol and Angel dust didn't help much in this case. All the while before and after going in, you're feeling your brains and mind are on fire, you can really feel your brain cells actually burning in your head. Being scared, paranoid and delusional wanting to be held and touched by LOVE not to let go of it's hug. 'Cause you may be thinking you're a good soul in there now that got numb and comfortable, but also feeling you're in a actual hell going to be burned in it like a witch with or by Satan. This can be ''the most unimaginable psychological fear and suffering'' realistically felt that one can experience in a hell hole you believe you're in or about to be thrown in the Dante's inferno state of mind you're in to stay there forever. To me, being a believer helps you survive the experience like this one that needed to be sacrificed to death for oneself to be renewed in CHRIST JESUS, or if you're not a believer maybe it was meant for you to feel like you're a Phoenix rising from the ashes, from where even snakes have shed their skins at least once to be raised up towards heaven, or that crawled out of hell's hole to re-experience life again on earth.

This song is about his struggle with his old addictions and going through rehab for the month he was in. It was a very life changing experience that he had and he's most likely decided to write a song on it

This Song Seems To Be Just About Being In A Mental Facility. All The Questions Are Things That You Would Be Asked (I KNow From Experience) "How Are We On A Scale Of One To 10.?" "Can You Tell Me What You See.?" We're Gonna Try Something New Today" "How Does That Make You Feel" "Have You Ever Taken A Blade To Your Wrist.? Have You Been Skipping Meal" All These Are Things Are Sayings Oli Might've Had To Hear && This Song Was His Way Of Communicating Just That. When He Says "Hold Me Close Don't Let Go Watch Me Burn" I Can't Help It But An Image Of Either Me , Or Him , Or Some Person Pops Into My Head. I See Them Being Dropped Off At The Hospital Clinging On To The Person That Brought Them There Asking Not To Go. Saying "Don't Let Go! Hold Me Close" The "Watch Me Burn I Think Is Because It's Hell In The Hospitals.

Oli said once that he was bullied at school and he had some friends like him they were all bullied and they 'sits in circles and stay unspoken' cause he said he was shy and he was staying unspoken everytime. maybe.
and after this, it can be about depression for sure. i know that feeling and it describes all of my feelings.

I believe its about recovering from self harm and to let people who care about you, help you get through it. "Have you ever taken a blade to your wrist, have you been skipping meals? We're going to try something new today how does that make you feel?" I truly believe this song is about recovery.

I think the whole song is obviously about depression but also the things oli went through. With the lyrics 'The days are a death wish' , 'Have you ever taken a blade to your wrist' , 'Have you been skipping meals' and repeating 'I am powerless' throughout the song he's basically describing depression. Trust me I self harm, am depressed and have anorexia and this song describes how it feels so perfectly only someone who went through it themselves could depict it so well.

i alwayse thought oli had some kind of gift that could also be calleda curse depending on what you believe in. i think there is something in him being quite a huge fan myself. i just cant piont it out or explaine...i feel like he's done something -he talks about freaquently- that haunts him it seems he regrets this. i dont think there is any further way to explain myself... you'd just need to have some backround information about sertain things i guess.

I always thought 'hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn' was about someone watching him mentally 'fading away' as in falling into depression, and 'have you ever took a blade to your wrists? have you been skipping meals? were gonna try something new today, how does that make you feel?' relates to therapy, I mean, that is what they repetitively ask in therapy (believe me, i have to go at least once a week, and it sucks) so yeah

When he says "hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn" I think he means "say goodbye to the old you and welcome a new one" since this song refers to depression a bit

When he says "Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobodie wants to die, I can fear death no longer, I've died a thousand times..." I think it refers to Reincarnation

I think it's about a boy/girl in a mental hospital. The part where he's singing is how he feels about being there and how powerless him and his fellow peers feel to their illnesses. Then when he starts screaming, he's saying stuff that a therapist would normally ask you. So when he starts screaming, it's from the counselors point of view. I think Oliver is trying to say its hard for counselors to see their patients this way and to ask all these questions about cutting, "how you feel" and "do you wanna talk about it."

This song is like many other songs. Each song from each artist is mean't to mean whatever you want it to. This song could mean something different to every single person that listens to it. That's whats cool about music you can interpret the lyrics anyway you believe. For me having been through depression, eating disorder, self harm, etc. This song means a lot, because it's as if he is talking to me specificaly. But, whatever you have been through can change the song meaning and that is what musics all about. :)

'The days are a death wish' when depression hits a person even simple tasks become harder, such as getting up in the morning, I know it is never easy waking up but when a person so depressed wakes up it is so much harder to face the problems of everyday life, a person wishes they would never wake up.

I think they wrote this song to really communicate with their fans. 'Have you ever taken a blade to your wrist, or have you been skipping meals' is what some of their fans might be stuggling with and by writing this song they hope to give their fans some hope.

i think this song is about depression. 'have you ever took a blade to your wrists? have you been skipping meals? were gonna try something new today, how does that make you feel?' suggests that he wants to help someone with depression. but he goes on to say 'hold me close, dont let go, watch me .... hold me close, dont let go, watch me Burn' indicating now he has depression too?
just my opinion, love this song its my favorite from this album
