"And every pane of glass that your pebbles tapped negates the things I went through to avoid you..." This means the girl would keep bothering him with the situation, even though he knew already and was trying to avoid the entire situation. "But there's a light on, in chicago, and I know I should be home, and all the colors of the streets signs, they remind me of that pickup truck out in front of your neighbors house" he's been out of town (touring possibly) and he knows he should be at home with his girlfriend, but she found a new person, her neighbor, which is why the pickup trucks at her neighbors house, she's cheating on him. "You want apologies, girl you might hold your breath, until your breathing stops forever" basically, she wants apologies for being left alone, even though she's the one who took advantage of the situation and left him angry. So he wants her to feel horrible or posisbly die.

The song has to do with touring and leaving their hometown. Its a story about how chicago was bittersweet for him (Patrick) and that he both misses and hates it while touring. It is also about the experiences he had there, all of the crappy fights and people who broke his heart.
This song was written by Patrick and he actually was planning on keeping it for himself in case fall out boy didnt work out and wanted to save it for a solo album. Him and Pete fought a lot about this song. There were some lyrics that Pete didn't like and the two of them ended up fighting about the song word for word. -
I love this song very much and really I don't think it matters too much what the person above/below you thinks it means. I this it is adorable. I can't say I know everything about the band but they seem like sweet funny down to earth people and I like to think of myself that way. If I were to write a song I honestly would try to trick people and write one about my dog or something and laugh when people tried to interpret it or apply it to their boyfriends or friends and family knowing (secretly) that is was about no one other than my boxer, you know. I like to keep an open mind about all of their songs. This one very well could be about a girlfriend, but I like that there is a question to it and maybe it shouldn't be answered? that is what makes it so amazing. and about Pete or Patrick being bi....really I don't mind ;-) please do.<3 lol and I do agree with whoever said that music should be appreciated. If all of them ran train on their tour bus, this song would still be amazing just like all the other ones.

Somehow, we got onto a discussion of whether Pete and Patrick are bisexual. I thought this was supposed to be an interpretation of the song. I have no idea if Pete or Patrick are bi, but even if they are would it change the way you felt about their music? Cause if it did that would be pretty low. I'm not trying to put anyone down, but music should be appreciated, no matter what sexuality the band members may be. And the two above comments? You probably shouldn't yell at people over the stuff they put on here, because its their opinion and they are entitled to it.

Um...Pete has openly stated that's he's bisexual. As for Patrick, I don't know. So, how about you get your facts straight before calling people out if you think they're false. Thanks. Here's proof for the non-believers:

For the girl who said Pete and PatRICK (not Pat. Never Pat. 'Cause that's "his mom's name.") are both bi, obviously you never read the article where Pete said he loves kissing and he's kissed guys before, but he'd never go all the way with another dude because he's not into... penises. So. Yeah. Bisexual means you are SEXually attracted to both genders. Not just like to kiss them.

I thought it had something to do with the fact the bands touring and their home is chicago and pete feels they should go back as he thinks his girlfriend is cheating on him...but he wnt go even though he should because he loves the band so much so in the end he just pretends he doesn't care when he rly rly doess :( its kind of saaaad :'( because he loves her....

This song has a negative feel to it b/c the whole album was created using negative feelings. FOB have gone on record stating "Take This to Your Grave" is about Pete's ex girlfriend who cheated on him not once, but twice in one weekend w/ two of his friends. I think I would have a pretty negative outlook toward relationships if that had happened to me.

Where are you people getting this stuff... That she's cheating with a neighbor? she's moved on and he hasn't. the pickup is the new bf's... Something went wrong... clearly becuase she tells him he's overrated. and she wants him to prob. pay attnetion apologize, work for it if he wants her back, but he won't give in.

i liked the idea of him being away a lot and her asking for an apology.

yes I think this song may be about a broken relationship between lovers but I can't read into any part of the lyrics that she cheated on him. -
At first I though it was plain and simple about a guy, who's liked a girl for who knows how long and is all mad about her not liking him and basically not giving him a chance. You know "loaded guns to our heads" pretty pissed off I would say. He's just like why won't she like me, oh I don't care if she does screw her and continues on.
