   I think she might be describing her teenage days when she was rebellious. She says, "Whenever I'm dressed cool my parents put up a fight" Like when she did something bad or different her parents (or whatever else she ment) would punish her,or lecture her. "I scream mom and dad, why can't i be who i wanna be?" Her parents did not understand her for who she was and disapproved odd behavior. "I just wanna be myself and i want you to know, I am my hair!" She uses hair as a symbol of freedom and she should be able to do whatever she wants with it. So this song probably is sending the message to be who you are and be free and don't let anypne stop you.

   I love that she uses hair to represent freedom in this song. When she says "I am my hair" she means I'm free just like my hair. When you think about it hair does offer us a unique freedom, we can style it, cut it, color it, put wigs on, add extensions, and do whatever we want with it to make our hair truly represent who we are. I love that this song captures the spirit of that freedom of being able to express who you are through your hair.

   The song hair sends the clear message on how Lady Gaga wants to be free, like her hair. It's quite genuine how she related "hair" to freedom. Hair is free. You can do whatever you want with it, you can color it, extend it, cut it, tie it, anything you want! It's free!
   Our dear mother Monster wanted to be free, and wanted to be known for how she really is, and not change for anybody.

   Hair is the metaphor for so many possibilities. And sometimes your parents don't understand that when they ask you to go change before you go out to see your friends, that they are asking you to change who you are, and they are taking away from you, right at the knees the one thing that makes you feel like you can survive at the high school party. Having this rebellious spirit. Well, we should all feel as free as our potential.

   As most of us know, Hair defines who we are.
   Lady Gaga is saying that her hair interprets her mood, personality, and who she is in general and she believes that HAIR is a perfect symbolism of FREEDOM.
   
   Wanting to 'wear her hair' however she wants without being judged and to be free to be herself.
   
   Hair explains who she is and she doesn't want anyone taking away the one thing she has... which is hair...
   
   SHE IS HER HAIR... which means... her hair represents who she is or how she is feeling... a GREAT metaphor! :)

    This son has a high Bruce Springsteen influence. It emphasizes the strong will for freedom that is burning not only in most youth, but also in the common people who could not live their youth in their time because of pressure.

    I think some of yall are right about this song. The problem I have with it is is that she could say whatever she wants and fans will listen. While I like the more positive and personally liberating lyrics of the new album, it's all pretty vague. I feel that she is trying to be deep with her new songs, and to sound profound, but either lyrically or musically falls short. I do find the hejab comment excellent and would be impressed if Gaga meant this with her song, as it is an angle most american pop stars would not take. Perhaps being forced to cut your hair a certain way or wear something covering it is the ultimate protest here. I can see how muslim girls would have a connection to the song.

    It means that her hair is a window into who she really is. And few people except who she is like her "hair" is too crazy or different for them to except. and "if I'm hot shot mom will cut my hair at night" means that its a punishment... if she's too wild or does something shitty her mom will take away her freedom or her record label will or something along those lines.

    It's about how her managers and her record label doesn't allow her to be herself. She loves drugs but they don't let her continue doing them. "If I'm hot shot mom will cut my hair at night"
    
    "Rock and roll red highlights" refer to ecstacy. When she uses ecstacy her "friends" or fans think she's awesome because she performs so much better on ecstacy.
    
    "Roxy, high school dance, I cut my bangs so high that I don't stand a chance" Roxy is rapid release oxycodone, a common high school drug that really gets you high to the point you can't be around people in public.
    
    She's defending who she is, a drug addict, she feels free on drugs and it's part of who she is as an artist. Why not continue to do them if you're in her shoes? It's gotten her this far she may as well die happy on them!
