   I will go along with the witch hunting but I think the persons mother has been falsely accused and the idea he wants to have revenge is suggesting that we can be evil just by being man (human) as man is often philosophically been called evil for centuries

   When I first heard this song, I thought it was 'cringey'. In answering the question "am I evil?" it seemed to be a proud, "yes I am" followed by "I am man" in a sense answering the question by referring to the asker as 'man', similar to how one would say "hey man, how's it going."
   The more I think of it, the more I realize the 'man' isn't the colloquial use of the word, but the literal meaning. He is stating that he is a man (human) and therefore of course he's evil. Thus we see the horrid acts of everybody in the story being told. All human, and all undeniably evil.

   I believe that it for Witchcraft trials. It refers to witches and the forms of "trials" they had to go through to prove if they are witches i.e. burning, putting them on ice/ throwing them into a lake to see if they would float. Many people were obsessed with finding and torturing witches. In this song it clearly asks "Am I Evil?" and answers "Yes I Am".
