Beat It Lyrics

[1st Verse]
They Told Him Don't You Ever Come Around Here
Don't Wanna See Your Face, You Better Disappear
The Fire's In Their Eyes And Their Words Are Really Clear
So Beat It, Just Beat It

[2nd Verse]
You Better Run, You Better Do What...

This is definitely a song about gang wars. The song tells the story of a young male, perhaps, who is tempted to keep his dignity and fight against a group of others who have disrespected him. Michael's suggesting to just forget it, you wanna be a real man, then you beat it. Michael once said "If you enter a fight and lose, you've gained nothing and lost everything."

The whole song (and music video) is based on gangs. Specifically, the gangs in the musical, West Side Story. The beginning of the musical, the two gangs continually tell the opposing gang to "beat it." And at the end, there is a rumble, where the two gang leaders fight to the death and a former gang member tries to stop them. Very similiar to how Jackson stops the two leaders from fighting in his music video. The snapping while walking was also done in the musical. I hope this is helpful to those who are trying to get to know Michael Jackson's work better.

Many of Michaels songs are based on bible teachings... This one is about turning the other cheek and walking away... don't worry about social acceptance and recognition... none of it matters in the end... "don't be a macho man"... "u wanna stay alive... so beat it" "but u wanna be bad! Just beat it"

Its about him being cloned whn he gets in the bed then disapears. And in real life after he made this video is when he came back looking like a woman. Then of course after he supposibly died they find his corpse on Neverland.

This song represents the state of mind of a person who is angry with someone or want to take revenge and this anger/willing to take revenge make him want to fight someone else. One voice telling him to fight and another voice telling him to stay away from it.Now, What micheal is suggesting? He is celarly suggesting "It doesn't matter who's wrong or right." The message is "For your peace of mind, you do anything, doesn't matter what you do is right or wrong."

I wrote with my friend Shane mecham he’s incredible songwriter, and soccer player, and do. He’s helping me, and Patrick and Shaun write music and then we would go anywhere for video shoots, it’s like vacation. But it’s fun to ride in the car, getting coffee, but Shawn wakes up early at 2:45. But it’s really later, but he stays in bed until 6:30, then we put on coffee on and ride in the studio.

Well MY interpretation, which is the correct one, is that this song is about Michael Jackson and the beatings he dealt out to his spouse and soon to be wife, Debbie, which should be changed to "deBEAT". I am glad that he was eventually arrested for his crimes and sentenced to life in prison, where he later died at the age of 89. Joe Jackson was truly a bad man who, in the end, was BEAT.

When Michael Jackson wrote “Beat it” it was about two gangs coming together to fight. But a young man from one of the gangs came to the two leaders of the gangs and said “beat it” but at the time Michael Jackson was there and tried to help the young man stop the fight.

As an artist, MJ was not the toughest guy. He was also very sensitive and defensive when people thought the wrong thing about him. He had trouble with relationships. Really, the opposite of what you might expect from a gang member. I think this song expresses a fantasy of his to be tough, confrontational and intimidating. The irony, is that he WAS influential in his own way, through his art and philanthropy. He did not need brawn to effect change.
