Snow ((Hey Oh)) Lyrics

come to decide other things that i tried
Were in my life just to get high on

When I sit alone come get a little known
But I need more than myself this time

Step from the road to the sea to the sky
And I do believe that we rely on

When...

He's talking about working the 12 steps of recovery. Anthony has been sober and attending meetings in LA for years now.

"come to decide that the things that I tried were in my life just to get high on"
This references the first step which talks about powerlessness and unmanageability. 'Come to decide' is just another way to say 'admitting.'

"When I sit alone come get a little known
But I need more than myself this time" This line references finding a higher power, which is in the second step.

    "When it's killing me
    What do I really need
All that I need to look inside"
This is about the fourth step which is a personal inventory. His fear is what's killing him and he needs a higher power to 'look inside.' Then when he says in the chorus "listen what I say" that could be referring to the 5th step, in which you tell someone your life story.

"The more I like to let it go" This has to do with turning his will over ["all my life to sacrifice"], the third step prayer, forgiving himself etc. This is important in recovery because resentment is the number one offender.

"Privately divided by a world so undecided"
This refers to the anonymous fellowship, which is more or less private.

"When to descend to amend for a friend"
He's talking about his 9th step here, making amends for the wrongs he's done others.

"Come to believe that I better not leave
Before I get my chance to ride" He's talking about his chance to ride the pink cloud, being rocketed into the fourth dimension by working the steps. He better not leave before the miracle happens.

I think this song is a about way more than drugs. I think it's about life. How things can be deciving in the beginning but "the more I see the less I know." It means waking up and taking a hard look at what your life is really about. "Deep beneath the cover where its all white as snow" Is referring how undernead a perfect white cover things are not so beautiful. "When to descend to amend for a friend" reinforces the idea of taking a deep introspect into one's self and realize what your doing and who your doing it for.

This song was used really well on the last (proper) episode of Scrubs and it actual fitted because it's about success and being brave enough to move on and make decisions, be that give up drugs or take a new job.
I'm sure we'd all like a world where our actions don't have consequences ('a field where all my tracks will be concealed').
'Step from the road to the sea to the sky' - one of my favourite song lyrics ever - is about moving onto better things, while many of the other lines talk about confusion and uncertainty facing us... That's life for you.

well i just went to you tube to hear it right from the horse's mouth....
The idiom ''straight from the horses mouth'' means hearing something directly from the person who knows the most about it

You deep poets ever hear of a little movie called Scarface where the coke is refered to as "yayo"? "Hey oh", "Say oh", um, as fum as it is for you lets not try to dig too deep here, these dudes are great musicians but not exactly Oscar Wilde. And for the meathead sayimg none of their songs are about drugs, i hope your being sarcastic otherwise you need another hobby besides interpreting lyrics

This song means so much to me. To me, it is speaking about addiction in all forms and I think it does a great job at capturing the addicts thought process. "Come to decide that things I've tried were in my life just to get high on". That's addiction itself. "When I sit alone, come get a little know". We start to believe we have a problem. "But I need more than myself this time". We find that our lives have become unmanageable and we need help to change. "When will I know that I really can't go to the well one more time". Relapse. "Step from the road, to the sea, to the sky". To me, the road is addicting, sea is the turbulent time of finding recovery, and the sky is sobriety.

If you go on youtube and put interview with anthony about snow he will state, "snow to cover up your old tracks" meaning that no matter what mistake you make there is hope in being able to move on and look forward with your life.he went through repeated failures in his life and this song was at a point where he realized that he will be able to start a new life and begin a new one. THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT DRUG TARDS

People need to rely on another perfect wonder where it is white as snow (heaven)

Will my tracks be concealed in another perfect wonder where it is white a snow

Etc. I think he is talking about believing in something that we don't know about.

This song is, with out a doubt, about cocaine. Any true RHCP fan would know all about Anothonys, and the rest of his bandmates, struggle with drugs.

Why is everything about drugs with you people?? Every song can be interpreted as a drug or sexual reference. NO WAY RHCP wrote their any of their songs specifically about drugs. This song can be interpreted much deeper then just drugs.....

RE: Most of their songs are about either drugs or sex. Listen to lyrics and not just the song.

I think it is about the cleansing power of Jesus our God.

RE: BULLSHIT. What part of this song says anything about God or religion, for that matter?

Anyway, awesome song, love it. Can't wait for the new album.

-I don't think It's about drugs. chili peppers do not want their fans jamming to the self pity of drug addiction..regardless if they still use..thats back in the day stuff.
It is about finding satisfaction. Once you've elevated to a certain point while soul searching-what then? So they are asking for guidance from a higher power.
"listen what I say/ come back and (the chance to ask is presented) "now look at what I say" like there are just too many questions and once lets just say it, they have Gods' attention, the questions are forgotten. The more I see, the less I know, the more I'd like to let it go. Enjoy life simply because you exist.

I think it's about getting over some demons. Snow blankets all. Once you get off, it's a fresh, clean feeling. Just my opinion.

Well, without listening to the lyrics, just the tune..its a total stoner song. Then you see the title "Snow," which is most likely coke, but Snow is a type of weed also. Then you listen to the words, and it's about deep thought. So I figure it's either getting over a coke/other hard drug addiction, or being extremely high off weed. Argue with me if you must.

Definitely about drugs..I would think the chorus mainly sheds light on the fact that how hard it is to get someone to listen to you when you are under its control but want to get out.

This song is definitely about cocaine, namely the cocaine that the lead singer was doing while on a tour in China. "Snow" is one street name for this drug.
