Nirvana: Polly Meaning

Polly Lyrics

Polly wants a cracker
Think I should get off her first
Think she wants some water
To put out my blow torch

Isn't me... Have a seed
Let me clip... dirty wings
Let me take a ride... cut yourself
Want some help... please myself
I got some...

you must be a bunch of dumbshits

this wasn't about the rape of polly klaas
that was in '93 nevermind, along with polly [the song]were released previously in '91.

polly was written about a girl 14 years old coming out of a gig, kidnapped by gerald friend. He tied her up in his mobile home [upside down] and raped / tortured her with a leather whip, razor, blow torch and hot wax, she gained his trust by saying the torture was boring her and such lies [ which would have been exetremely hard to do assfucks ] and while he stopped for gas she got out of the vehicle and made a scene attracting attention from surrounding people friend was arrested and rape me is believed as a polly hitback which Kurt says is just 'poetic justice' about a man who rapes a girl and goes to jail and while there he gets raped.

any more question shitheads you can't get anything right stop trying

    p.s.

    IS NOT ABOUT POLLY KLAAS

    &&

GOOGLE SEARCH COMES UP TO VERY LITTLE ANSWERS

stop making shit up it isn't funny it's serious stuff dumbasses IT'S RAPE

I don't think the real girl's name was polly. I think Kurt just used it because at first, I thought this song was about a parrot. I'm serious. But then I watched the making of nevermind dvd, and dave grohl (I think) said that Kurt read in the newspaper that a girl (14 year old I think) was kidnapped and raped after a concert. She pretended to like what the rapist was doing to her and gained his trust, and then he took her out for a ride and he trusted her so much that he left the car unlocked and she got away. Kurt read that and was totally fascinated about how she controlled her kidnapper and wrote a song about it.... "amazes me the will of instinct"

I don't think you guys should use this site like a chat room...

Anyway, this song is about a 14 year-old girl named Polly from Tacoma, Washington, who was returning from a concert in 1987, when a man named Gerald Friend abducted her and kidnapped her. He took her to his mobile home and raped her, then tortured her with a blowtorch, a whip, and a razor. Then he took her for a drive in his car, and when he stopped for gas, she escaped and reported him. Then I guess Kurt heard about it and wrote this song. All the lyrics describe what happened.

actually i read a blog from someone who said that that they were on the jury for this case and what really happend was a girl named polly who was a 14 year old runaway ran away from home and was living in friends closets and then she was hanging out at this place i forgot the name for it but anyway it was a popular place for hookers and she willing got into the car with gerald friend and he took her back to his place were he raped her and tied h
er hanging her upside down and he burnt her with ciggs and a blow torch he also cut her with a razor and i also heard she never came on to him but i belive she did which was actually really smart in a way but he took her for a ride and he untied her cuz she gained his trust and she escaped from the car and ran into the gas station and jumped over the counted and was cowering behinde the guy who was working there and friend actually got into his car and drove off but they cops obviously found him and he was on parol because he has kidnapped children b4 if u google it then ur gonna find more stuff its kinda confusing and its a lot to of info to take in but kurt is refrencing to that girl in the song

The two sick men who raped a girl, did not sing the song polly, they did it at a concert while kurt sang polly. the song however, is not about polly klaas.

Well it's been said about it being about a rape but I Kurt used Polly as it is thought of as a birds name showing that the rapist had dehumanised his victim... Just a thought :D

I am pretty sure it was a divine polly klaas premonition , I heard that 'i know I'm right song' is too in some way that if I mentioned , you would all think I WAS crazy , but polly klaas is the correct answer even if that other girl HAD to die too

Alright, this is a song Kurt wrote after he read a newspaper where the headlining story was about a man named Gerald Friend who abducted a girl after a concert in Tacoma. The man brought her back to his trailer where he tied her up and tortured her repeatedly with a whip, razor, and blow torch as well as raping her.
"Think I should get off her first"-tells the listener that he had raped her non stop.
"Think she wants some water"-tells of how he gave her little if not any water at all. as well as how she wanted to stop him from using the torch("To put out the blow torch").
"Maybe she would like more food"-tells the listener that he pretty much starved her.
"She caught me off my guard
Amazes me, the will of instinct"-shows how the girl escaped when she caught him off guard. She supposedly pretended that she fell in love with him, and when he let his guard down and untied her, she escaped and warned the authorities. this was the part that inspired Kurt most and that is why he wrote the song.

The whole song is spoken from the the kidnapper's point of view.

"Polly said..." was added when Kurt sang to early during recording, they just decided to keep it in.

One incident particularly distressing to Cobain involved two men who raped a woman while singing the Nirvana song "Polly". Cobain condemned the episode in the liner notes of the US release of the album Incesticide: "Last year, a girl was raped by two wastes of sperm and eggs while they sang the lyrics to our song 'Polly.' I have a hard time carrying on knowing there are plankton like that in our audience. Sorry to be so anally P.C. but that's the way I feel."

He didn't write the song after a rape, he was upset some asshole didn't understand the real meaning of the song. Thats one thing he hated most fans like you guys who say you love nirvana but have no idea what any are the songs are about. Pick up a book for one and read it his biography or anything

This was about who was kidnapped after a concert, raped and tortured and eventually managed to escape by coming onto the rapist, who then let his guard down. Kurt was astounded by her and wrote the song from the point of view of the rapist, comparing the girl to a bird in a cage.

After Polly was released, Kurt heard about a separate incident where two men raped a girl whilst singing the lyrics to polly. He was disgusted and called them 'wastes of sperm and eggs'

There are some real assholes in this world

Yea,it is about the rape he read about in the paper, although I actually believe she just was kidnapped. But the song is wrote from the rapist/kidnappers point of view. That woman, Polly, was friendly towards the rapist/kidnapper and made him believe he didn’t need to watch over her all the time. In the end she actually escapes because he lets his guards down. All this is in an interview in the heaveir than heaven biography.

Well first off, whoever said that Kurt was taking the place of the women, was wrong, he sings the song in the rapists point of view. He read in a newspaper that a 14 year old girl was kidnapped from a local rock concert and tortured and raped. Then the girl decided to come to see her torturer as a person and he let his guard down and she got away. He was completely amazed and wrote the song about it.

    this is from wikipedia.com

Cobain struggled to reconcile the massive success of Nirvana with his underground roots. He also felt persecuted by the media, comparing himself to Frances Farmer, and harbored resentment for people who claimed to be fans of the band but who completely missed the point of the band's message. Sorry to be so anally P.C. but that's the way I feel."

that song wasnt about sadism, or being an asshole or a rapist, it's a fucking song.
