Rape Me Lyrics
Rape Me
Rape me
Rape me, my friend
Rape me
Rape me, again
I'm not the only one[4x]
Hate me
Do it and do it again
Waste me
Rape me, my friend
I'm not the only one [4x]
My favorite inside source
I'll kiss your open...

Actually in a interveiw kurt's exact words were "it is an anti let me repeat that anti-rape song" he later on said it was a "Just reward for a man who rapes a women violates her and then goes to prison and gets raped there himself"

I always thought it was about the media taking and saying what they want and doing what they want to your life exposing everything you've ever done that you didn't want anyone else to know and he's not the only one that it's happening too.But I never saw anything about the meaning of this song in his journals.

Kurt was such an enigma, that it is hard to interpret his songs 100 % correctly, but I feel this song speaks for itself more than any other he wrote.
The song is about what he viewed as unfair treatment by the media. Especially in regards to the Vanity Fair article that reported that both mommy and daddy were shooting up heroin before and during the pregnancy.
This nearly took their child away from them so Kurt wrote a song that was intended to be a direct slap in the face of the media, in true punk fashion.
"My favorite inside source/ I'll kiss your open sores/ I appreciate your concern/ You're gonna sink and burn"
Also note the mocking tone of the song. "Rape me... Rape me my friend."

It's obviously about Kurt feeling depressed and he feels like he's so vunerable so he's saying "Just use me and do what you will" and calls them his "friend" when they really aren't.

Actually, this song is a first person narrative of a rape victim, provoking her assailant. Kurt Cobain himself said this song was about bad karma - reaping what you sow. I personally think it's a visionary of a song, and leaving the listener to determine whether or not the victim was a man or a woman.

This song is an ANTI rape song. Kurt Cobain did not mean this literally. It is about how rapists go to jail and are raped there temselves.

I don't think any of you really no much about Kurt cobain. Kurt Cobain suffered from depression. Most people who suffer from depression disrespect themselves and consider others better than themselves. This is Kurt Cobain saying that you are better than me and you are allowed to do whatever you want to me. Cobain had an idea of what rapists thought, this was that they were making their mark upon you. He was saying he deserved this; he basically had VERY low self-esteem.

If you'd like to research it yourself, it IS actually about karma and how a guy raped a girl then went to prison and was raped himself... Kurt's words.

I think it is mainly about Kurt Cobain being depressed and he wants people to see the real him as a human being not a celebirity. He is using "rape me" as see me maybe it's what I think.

First of all, I own journals, books almost everything of Kurt Cobain's and this song is about a time in his life when he was depressed in rehab, and the media was really on him bad. So Rape me was a song that let out his feelings. Kurt did a lot of songs on his feelings and mind.

I feel this song doesn't really have a female or male connotation, but is merely a comment on other humans taking advantage of others. The fact that he considered changing the lyrics to waif me suggest this.

Yall are all stupid! Rape Me is about MTV selling Kurt & Courtney out to vanity fair. MTV was an inside source that provided info for the article. "My favorite inside source" It's not about an actual rape
