Nice To Know You Lyrics

Better than watching Geller bending silver spoons
Better than witnessing new born nebulas in bloom.
She who sees from 'up high' smiles and surely sings.
Perspective pries her once weighty eyes and it
Gives you wings.

I haven't felt the way...

I'm not sure but I think , partially anyways, that the song is about not noticing certain things going down and then something in your mind clicks and you see what's happening, your eyes open and you know(Perspective pries her once weighty eyes and it gives you wings).
The line "So could it be that it had been there all along?" is like you thinking 'how long has this been happening for, did it just start?'
The chorus(I haven't felt the way I feel today in so long it's hard for me to specify. I'm beginning to notice how much this feels like a waking limb... pins and needles)is like the elation you feel after something has been cleared and it feels odd 'cause you haven't been so perseptive to what's going and all the sudden it's clear as day.
Now having this knowledge cleans things up and calms things down that may have been tense from the lack of knowledge(To obtain a 'birds eye' is to turn a blizzard to a breeze).
Having this new perspective is such a great event(Better than witnessing new born nebulas in bloom)and you're glad that you can wipe away former misconceptions(Nice to know you, Good-bye).
IDK I love this song and I'm just babbling ^_^

My interpretation of this song, as well as many of the songs on the MorningView album, has a very deep Eastern Philosophical connotation. This song in particular, in my view, is about becoming aware of the 'true self', our deeper connection with nature, and wonderful feeling/point view we gain from its realization. All while still in human form.
The song writer tries to prepare you for how deep the meaning is and how difficult the concept is to grasp, by saying...
"Better than watching Geller bending silver spoons,
Better than witnessing new born nebulas in bloom" AND "Deeper than the deepest Cousteau would ever go.
Higher than the heights of what we often think we know"
The concept that we are more than just our physical body he says...
"Im beginning to notice, how much this feels like a waking limb, pins & needles" AND "Perspective pries her once weighty eyes"
This would be the realization that we are more than just our 'physical bodies' and our desires; that our 'true/eternal self lies within our consciousness.
This gives us the idea that our 'true selves' existed before this simple austere life here on Earth; the notion of perhaps Reincarnation; this recognition is hard for the singer to pin point 'when he last felt this way' because he has felt this way, before birth/ or after his last death. That is why he can't specify.
"I haven't felt the way I feel today
In so long it's hard for me to specify"
His wonderful feeling of awareness also comes from his enlightenment to our true oneness with nature due to this grand recognition...
"Blessed she who clearly sees the wood for the trees"
This new perspective into the nature of the 'true self' is uplifting and beautiful...
"To obtain a 'birds eye' is to turn a blizzard to a breeze" AND "Perspective pries her once weighty eyes and it gives you wings"
This new and amazing notion into the true nature of THE SELF leaves one to ask the question...
"So could it be that it had been there all along?"

These guys are awesome and have some pretty deep insight into life. You can't tell me they haven't experimented with psychedelics. How else would you get such wonderful perspective while trapped here in the western world.
    Thanks for letting me share!

The song is about the death of one's self; death of ego - and the mysticism revealed during a DMT trip.

I think it's about getting over a breakup. He explains how it feels to finally be over someone. Then he says, 'Goodbye, nice to know you.'

The meaning behind the song is about Brandon himself. It is basically about looking at yourself in the mirror, and not liking what see, or not liking what you feel about yourself. Then one day, you wake up, and feel different, like a numb feeling in a hand or foot (pins and needles). And suddenly you change and over the course of time you love what your life has turned into and that you appreciate yourself. And you say nice to know to you, goodbye. It is about changing the way you think and feel about yourself and your surroundings for the better.

My interpretation to this song will be: it's about someone that try to express her feelings after she stopped his habits of using drugs. The phrases "better than watching Geller bending silver spoons" and "better than witnessing newborn nebulas in bloom" on the first verse kind of representing the feelings of this drug user about the effects of the drugs itself and how people feel when they're on drugs. This assumption is getting even stronger with the next part of the phrase, "She who sees from 'up high' smiles and surely sings.
Perspective pries her once weighty eyes and it
Gives you wings." this phrase kind of reflecting the user (in this case a lady) while she was on drugs. "sees from UP HIGH" shows that she's high at that time, with a happy feelings towards her surroundings (smiles and surely sings), and she will feel as light as can be, and she'll fly with that happiness (Perspective pries her once weighty eyes and it
    Gives you wings).

after the user stopped her habits of using drugs, she thought that living a normal healthy life without drugs is so much better than everything that she often thought she knew. ( "Deeper than the deepest Cousteau would ever go.
Higher than the heights of what we often think we know.")

lucky for those who respect the values of life and keep their body away from drugs, and also to those who immediately turn the path and stopped using drugs before it's too late (" Blessed she who clearly sees the wood for the trees.
To obtain a 'birds eye' is to turn a blizzard to a breeze.")

and she felt a very happy and relieving sensation after she stopped the drug using habits. and she felt like she was re-born, and she declare that she won't ever use drugs again, and for knowing drugs once in her life, it's just an experience that taught her so many veluable lessons on which is good and which is not. So goodbye to that part of her life, and she's ready to move on now. without pins, nor needles. ("I haven't felt the way I feel today
In so long it's hard for me to specify.
I'm beginning to notice how much this
Feels like a waking limb... pins and needles,
    Nice to know you, Good-bye..
    Nice to Know You,
    To know... You" )

    I think that's all. I don't know if it's true, but that's what I got. cheers! :D

This song was written for two reasons. "Nice to know you," are lyrics dedicated to an incident Brandon had experienced with his hand. It had fallen asleep, and feeling did not return for ten days. This song is also about gaining perspective. "Perspective pries your once weighty eyes and it gives you wings." All in all, the song is suggesting that there is a certain wonder of seeing things in a new light.
