Submitted by: tool9386 Umm...why would satan having no balls have anything to do with a cooking recipe??
Submitted by: anonymous The song is about Hitler and Nazi Germany
Submitted by: Zaq Sorry, I forgot to mention that eier means "eggs", but can also mean "balls," like the spanish word "juevos".
Submitted by: Zaq I like your interpretation, it's one that I've never heard.
Submitted by: anonymous It's definitely a recipe for some kind of hash cookies. I spotted the name on a menu in a hash bar in Amsterdam referring to the shape and the feeling you have being stoned and feeling sick. Eier (eggs) is a German expression for balls. So its a pun. Hash cookies in general are baked without eggs.

Submitted by: anonymous Too much thought and not quite enough patience in this place.
Submitted by: Timmy I think that "satan's balls" is another name for the recipe.
Submitted by: anonymous All it is is a recipe for hash brownies.
Submitted by: crazy71texan You know I don't know jack about German, but this song is so awesome and from what my friend who does know German said...it is about a cookie recipe. It might be deeper then I see it but I'm just not getting it.
Submitted by: kcp Look...guys. Can't someone make a joke without someone over-interpreting it? Die Eier von Satin is about Hash Cookies. The reason they 're referred to as eggs is because they're somewhat spheroid, or shaped like an egg. The humor is derived from the fact that even though they are called "The eggs of Satan" they have no eggs in them. Additional humor is derived from the fact that most of Tool's audience don't know German. Therefore, due to the tone of voice and the fact that it's in German, it sounds kind of "Nazi", so to speak. Images like these are obviously conjured up from seeing footage of Hitler speeches, etc. When one finds out the lyrics are about making cookies "with drugs in them, hence the Satan reference", the joke comes to fruition.
Submitted by: kcp Additional thoughts:
Submitted by: Zaq Entertainment, indeed. It is very funny when you find out what the lyrics mean, because it's definately not what you thought of when you first heard it.
Submitted by: anonymous What does one think when one says Hitler? I think of a killer of millions of innocent men, or a brutal murder of a hundred thousand too many women and children.
Submitted by: Arnoudus I think its a bit weird always linking german to Nazi. can't the lyrics just be german without any reference to the nazi's.
Submitted by: anonymous You're right, it doesn't have to mean Nazi, but that is the reason why it is in German, to reflect something evil. I believe that this song is to make you ask yourself: if you were going to make a recipe for a new you, would you leave out the seeds of evil (eggs of satan)?
Submitted by: anonymous I don't think this song is really about satan...I think Maynard creates a metaphor being satan the bad guys or those who wanna be bad guys...I think it has a lot to do with "Hooker with a penis", it's a sequence. They smoke hash, they do all the bad stuff, but in the end they don't have guts...
Submitted by: keepgoingspiralout At first glance this song sounds evil and sinister, but once the lyrics are translated it turns out to be about a cookie or cake. I think this is kind of a test to see how deep into this song we will look. Some people might not care to translate the lyrics and dismiss Tool as satanists, whereas others can translate them and see that this is a clever joke and that the lyrics involving satan are just a red herring.
