Songs about Poverty
You're broke! And it's three days until the lights get turned off, five days until the paycheck clears, and two days until your traffic fine goes to bench warrant. Hope you like Ramen, because it's all we got! Poverty is a near-universal condition; according to "Global Issues, The Human Development Report" as of 2012, 80% of the world's population lives on less than $10 per day.
So it's surprising that there aren't a lot more songs about poverty, except that it isn't something to typically sing about. You'll find lots of blues-genre songs here, some country themes, and lots of general poor sods flat broke and busted, down on their luck.
