It has many interpretations The first time I heard the lyrics,I felt that someone had made another a cuckold, to use an outdated word. It always puts me in the mind of the Leigh/Olivier affair where Vivien's husband was the singer of the song,while she lived with her husband, treated him, sweetly, yet spent her passions in Larry's bed. Vivien's husband tried to hold onto her, but it was a losing game. He got up one morning and the someday Scarlett O'Hara was gone.

From His perspective view and realistic Stand of seeing ''The Circle Is Small'' in His mind, that is truthfully seeing the fast lies of Her's, through Her round go go world view eyes that are obviously lying to Him. By which She should at least have the knowhow not to lie to Him about The Truth of Her whereabouts. Just out of respect.
